Videos of Acoustically-Coupled Audio Recordings

I should say GBP 200. Thanks!
Oh, I misunderstood that, I thought weight.:) Be sure to listen to the new Gan Fet Class D. my advice.

And if you wonder if Tidal is better than Spotify here is a video with some answers.

Tidal is better (sound clean, clear, deep, snappy) to my ears. Video sounds excellent. Thanks for the nice music!

Here's another:

Paul Gonsalves on tenor saxophone. Originally recorded in 1958.

I recorded it from my listening position with a Tascam DR-40X using the build on microphones.

RaspberryPi > Toslink > ECDesigns poweDAC-SX!

I have tweaked the speaker placement and increased slightly the tilt of my open baffle speakers. I'm happy with the sound. The sound also fills in nicely the entire flat. Will post a phone video walking around the appartement - it is interesting...

If you're shopping for a turntable, hear this:

This is an interesting video. The differences in sound are pretty obvious to me. The comments are also interesting to read and how varied the impressions are. Here is one that catches my attention:

"To answer the main question; yep, they sure sound different. As far as which one sounds better, I like the first one which has more detail. Second one sounds less detailed, but I agree with those who said it’s warmer and more real sounding. Thanks for taking the time for this interesting comparison."

Less detailed but warmer and more real sounding.... He prefers the one that sounds less real. Hmmm. This is rather strange to me but I suppose not that surprising given the focus on "detail" in the high end now. It makes me wonder if the "detail" is really a kind of enhancement, something that is artificial. In my experience, the more resolving a system, the closer it represents the recording. Whether or not it is more real sounding depends on the recording. The best recordings on really good systems do sound pretty natural and convincing, IMO.

The DD Krebs K3 sounded thin and sterile to me, very flat in comparison. The AF3P has more tonal range and color. It is less thin and sterile sounding. It is more vibrant and alive. Neither is really to my taste, but this is a very interesting video which clearly demonstrates the differences between these two turntables and it does make MF's point pretty well. It is yet another example of the utility of videos.

Although MF does not say this explicitly, I do not think the differences in presentation are simply because one is belt drive and the other is direct drive.

I found the OMA K3 (1st one, direct drive) more realistic, better flow, which surprised me as normally I prefer belt drives. It's probably system dependent.

It is very much TT dependent. I have two DD decks, Yamaha GT-2000 and Exclusive P10 and neither have the stereotypical DD sound…analytical and dry. Both have great power and drive but flow and tone as well .

I was thinking the AF3P might be puting more low frequency out into the room, negatively affecting the overall sound.

New speaker design , not burned in everything straight out of the box .
No measuring yet just filter adjustment by ear based on previous set up experience.
This time a series X over

See how it compares when everything is dialed in in a month or 2
