Videos of Acoustically-Coupled Audio Recordings

Maybe grate-free is a better description as in it doesn't grate on my ears like my Tidal playback does.
Do you use a re-clocker between your streamer and your DAC? If not, then you are missing a lot of potential for your digital system.

Thanks, which reclocker do you recommend?
Btw some Tidal albums are grate-free so will it definitely make this recording sound good?

I use the Mutec MC3+ , which works very well. In the past, I used Monarchy Audio DIP when it was a CD only world.

As to grate-free...I don't know for sure of course. I use Qobuz, which is generally better sounding than Tidal but not a huge difference I would say. I will listen to this track at home and see how it sounds in my system.

The track is not on Qobuz. You will find it on Bandcamp: https://renaudgarcia-fons.bandcamp.com/track/bosphore

You should have the option of downloading in FLAC (once you purchase - there is no price difference).
Not worth the effort. I listened to other albums from this artists...good recordings but I am not a fan of too much bass soloing.

I looked at the list of my videos on my YouTube channel and was surprised to see that this one got 12.000 views and over 200 "likes":

I assume the vast majority of viewers were unaware that this is a system video, and are probably listening on their phone's speakers. Still it is interesting to acknowledge that these types of videos, in spite of all their limitations (and obviously the system's as well) don't hinder people's ability to simply connect with the music.

The serious musicality of your system wows me, especially, this one. Really nice. Keep them coming.

My Tascam DR-100 recorder broke down and I replaced it with a cheaper Tascam DR-40X (about 200€). Here is a recording using its build-in microphones, right "out of the box", with its default settings:

I find the recording quality to be good. The recorder has XLR powered input for external microphones, so I will be using it with my S502 microphones and compare the results.

Here is the original track, for anyone interested: https://open.qobuz.com/track/62272498

"Satin Doll" - Johnny Hodges on alto saxophone, Billy Strayhorn on piano... Recorded in April, 1958.

I am patiently waiting for a newer (and improved) model of my amp - will be curious to see whether equipment upgrades can transpire in these types of videos.
