Videos of Acoustically-Coupled Audio Recordings

I see, both sound good/similar. I'm more interested in higher res file playback. Try this 24/96 track, (the link to the vinyl version vid i posted above):

It's such a shame your Zoom mic conked out. Btw Chasing the Dragon records used the Zoom F8 to record their latest release. Zoom recorders with similar specs can be had pretty cheap.

Yes, while it worked it made a significant improvement. I have a very good TASCAM but it is audio only and the files are huge in 24/96, so no easy upload possibility. Sadly, the thing now makes all kinds of weird distortions. It survived one hifi show :(. Maybe I will try it again just to confirm its death but the last attempt was unacceptable.

To get great recordings you need very good microphones. Those are expensive.
Sure, the question is how good does it need to be for a youtube video.
Btw I find field recording videos quite revealing of mic quality. This one used an Audio Technica BP4025 ($350):

These "nature soundscapes" are impressive because:

- contrary to our listening rooms, where we always have ambient noise (around 40db in the city, for example), here the ambient noise is what you are recording, there is no "masking"

- there is obviously no room reverberation
..

- the microphones used (in this case, closer to 500€ or even higher) are very sensitive, capture subtle sounds, and have low noise.

Er the sound in this video is impressive coz it's well recorded, there are plenty of nature vids that sound bad and nothing like nature.

Then try to make a good recording in a room with reverb, high noise floor, and a cheap microphone. You'll have to increase the volume and get distortion due to the microphone. That's all I was trying to underline.

NYC street, 3 AM, ambient noise of air conditioners recorded through my phone. Better close your windows when you listen to your stereo :)

Here's another vid demonstrating that iphone vid sound sucks:
For @Ron Resnick this was recorded using the Acoustic preset setting.
No one doubts this. I think it is more a question of is the Iphone adequate for comparative purposes? The answer is clearly yes. However, I think if people are using various models there will be an issue there in comparability because I think they all record a bit differently. Someone making changes to their system, like Ron, that is recording with the same phone will have comparability.

That said, I liked the sound of my Zoom IPhone mic...It was a clear step up in sound quality and was better for determining the absolute sound quality of a system (not just relative differences like above with the Iphone). I just hated that it was so poorly built that it only lasted one Munich show before it started having issues.

I disagree, the iphone isn't good for comparative purposes and hides differences.

I was able to easily tell difference in small changes…including different violins playing the same thing…so, we will have to agree to disagree.

I recorded below 2 videos one after another. 1st one was with a EV car charger was on (I forgot to turn it off) at 1am. 2nd video was taken after the charger was disconnected at 1:06am. Can you hear the sound difference? I used Nikon D7100 with Shure external mics.

Seems like Denafrips Aries 12 is a lot closer to Lampi Amber 4 than the Aries 2 was to the Amber 3:

I only watched the first video, and the differences are too subtle to be conclusive. The dominant factor in the sound, I believe, are the speakers and probably the amplification. The DACs probably don't make much of a difference, or it is not obvious on a video. If you close your eyes while listening, I doubt you could tell when the DAC changes. Was listening through YouTube on my phone with Etymotic ER4SR headphones.
