BEETHOVEN! Listened to my multichannel Sym.5 and decided to hear more...and found I had only ONE.. Then searched PRESTO and bought six more...by Masur, Herreweghe, I. Fischer, Janowski, Tilson Thomas, and Honeck..

Started with Masur's Sym. 2 last nite.. That's one of Philips's 4-channel recordings from 1974 and sounds quite good on my MC system.. FWIW, my MC system sounds better on music configured without a CC speaker.

With 4-channel recordings, that makes sense. Otherwise, not.
Oh, I looked and saw that your center speaker is nearly on the floor, so, yes. Better without it except, mebbe, for movie dialog.

Yup!

This was supposed to be a turn back towards serious fare from one of the more established ages. Nine tracks in Crumb's "Thirteen Images from the Dark Land for Electric String Quartet" showed up.

Pavel Markelov (he might prefer the anglification Paul Mark currently) came to my attention today unwillingly pursuing fascination H.R.H. coronation ceremony had produced a live album overnight. Sparse information beyond classifying himself through performance, conducting, composition, arranging, teaching, or at the beginning of his career, competing, further added to my interest after the first notes.

Two totally fascinating orchestral works by American composer Christian Wolff. Not “difficult” music but requiring close, thoughtful listening nevertheless to appreciate Wolff’s very original musical syntax.

Hi Bachtoven,

Was just wondering about this ECM series...have you heard any of the four they've now done?

Yes, but it's been quite a while. I do recall that I enjoyed them. I like their concert programming that includes multiple composers rather than works by just one composer.
