I generally don't like covers. It is very rare for me to like any cover at all, let alone to like a cover more than I like the original.

There are literally only three covers I like more than the original:

Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah"

Roberta Flack "Bridge Over Troubled Water"

Eva Cassidy "Fields of Gold"

Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You"

What covers do you like literally more than the original?

6 easy ones....

The Beatles, 'Twist and Shout'
Righteous Brothers, 'Unchained Melody'
Cream, 'Crossroads'
Eva Cassidy, 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'
Jimi Hendrix, 'All Along The Watchtower'
Eric Burdon and the Animals, 'House of the Rising Sun'

and pretty much all Eva Cassidy cuts.

How about an entire album? One of my absolute favourite records.

The best covers i listen, most time in talent shows e.g "voice of germany, netherlands and other countries. Exsample when you close your eyes you think Bob marley is back.
Other good covers
Axel rudy pell - in the air tonight (phil collins)
Nina Hagen- Seemann (Ramstein cover)
Far Corporation- stairway to heaven(led zepplin cover)
I'm not saying it's better than the original, but I can listen to it over and over again. for me an award.

There are a lot more covers of songs than some people (especially me) realise(d). I always come back to an "oldie"; Manfred Mann's Earthband with "Blinded By The Light", which is a cover of a song by Bruce Springsteen. It's a different take, but to me, it is better than Bruce's original. However, the cover version was the one I heard first, which I think can make a big difference.

I am not sure that Eva Cassidy's "Fields Of Gold" is better than Sting's original, though. That's probaly just me, though.

Almost all Musica Nuda covers
Holly Cole, I can See Clearly Now
Deep Purple, Hush
Lots of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra songs though I may not be aware of all the originals.
The Ska remake of “I’ve got you Babe“ is better than the original by Sonny and Cher

Rosanne singing the National Anthem, not.

Anything originally sung by Bob Dylan.

Hallelujah also sung better than the original by Alexandra Burke.

There are hundreds of other examples where the original singer (likely more a song writer than a singer) are far less enjoyable than subsequent covers.
