Hi Emile,
The ER without any external clocking and fancy Ethernet cables sounds better in your opinion compared to a souped up soTm? We can save a ton of cash then. As a consumer, I'd rather buy the ER then, instead of getting the soTm switch and spending a few more grand getting an external clock and fancy Ethernet cables which can also cost a few grand. The ER sounds like its the bargain of the new decade. Must get one and then dump all my fancy cables and clocks. To think I would have saved all those cash. Haiz.

Thanks for the review though, it was an eye opener.

Here's a little something from just one specific audiophile in Japan, he's already an owner of Telegärtner M12 Gold Switch and auditioned another switch from JS PC Audio

http://www.my-hiend.com/vbb/showthread.php?5404-????????-HI-FI????????&p=237658#post237658

It's an older model called HFS1100 and according to that particular Japanese audiophile, both switches (i.e. Telegärtner and JS PC Audio) were actually performing on the same level (despite that HUGE gap between both price tags) and therefore he purchased HFS1100 right away

https://www.shop-jspcaudio.net/shopdetail/000000000093/

Personally I really don't think they're making that up, let's take a look at these (translated) links as well

https://ameblo.jp/hirofundamental/entry-12467835050.html
https://acousticrevive.jp/xoops/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4741&forum=35

Recently JS PC Audio also released this revised model HFS1155

https://www.shop-jspcaudio.net/shopdetail/000000000162/

Obviously its built-in LPS should be rated at 100V and therefore audiophiles here in Hong Kong will have to modify it first, though they're also claiming to open the door to overseas market back in November 2019

Given its tremendous value / affordability when compared to other alternatives, most likely it should be an ideal candidate for this upcoming clock since we're voiding the warranty from Day One anyway

https://www.fidelityaudio.co.uk/c5-signature-low-jitter-clock-4461-p.asp

They're also offering mods for all kinda switches plus the costs of their clocks

https://www.fidelityaudio.co.uk/network-switch-upgrade-4616-p.asp

Maybe a modified HFS1155 could even outperform M12 Gold Switch?

BTW for a "SOtMx2 with optical fiber connection" format, adding good ethernet cables such as the Vertere elsewhere along the network pathway is very beneficial.[/QUOTE]
Hello Abyss Man,
I mentioned in the very beginning of this thread that SOtMx2 connected by optical fiber was the king of audiophile switch configuration.

But this optical fiber connection seems to be NOT good for "SOtM to ER".
Even a rather cheap Supra cat8 ethernet cable did better than it sonically.

I guess connecting two SOtM with your TQ Diamond ethernet cable should be good, though with sonic character diff from our Vertere HB ethernet cable.

BTW for a "SOtMx2 with optical fiber connection" format, adding good ethernet cables such as the Vertere elsewhere along the network pathway is very beneficial.

Hello CK, very informative review! Thanks. I need your advise as to where would be the right place to use the most expensive ethernet cable in the chain of SOtM 10G Switch x2? My configuration is Router—>10G1; NUC—>10G2; 10G2 —> DAC/NP). I use Brinkmann Nyquist II as Roon endpoint and Roon Nucleus for Core. I have two Wireworld Starlight Ethernet cables; 1 Vertere HB and Several Supra Cat8s. I do not have any USB in my chain.

Probably not the fault of the SFP transceivers. Post a diagram of your network and your Roon server connections and I may have some tips for you. The Roon RAAT protocol is not all that robust when it comes to working across multiple switches.

Just got my 2nd SOtM switch. What SFP modules are being used? Mine are dropping packets are causing Roon to skip...
I got my 2 x SOtM switch hooked up as well + mutec 10mhz clock + UPTONE AUDIO Ether-Regen in front of the SOTMs right now ,,,, I have to say the TIDAL is now very good compared to even my ESOTERIC P02 CD transport ( the streaming was no where close before ) I think with a bit more of burn-in its gonna be pretty sweet , I am currently using AIM ETHERNET NA-7 in-between the UPTONE-> SOTM->SOTM all Ethernet cable,,, does anyone think using SFP will be better? (I am using a SFP from the wall and then ethernet back to UPTONE already , so there is one layer of SFP already : ) ,,, I tried to use the SFP from the wall to ETHER-REGen But somehow it won't talk.. so I just went back to AIM CAT7 cable for now,, any advice will be appreciated ! ( all equipment hooked to 10MHZ clock when possible )

Cracked the network issues - my network is complex and an upstream switch was causing issues. Reconfiguring has solved the packet drops. Back to the music!

Looks like only available in 100v Japanese version,

This topic being completely over my level, I'm wondering if there is a reasonably priced application in my system that would be worthwhile. I'm using a Roon Nucleus+ through a Lumin X-1 with a Synology NAS all connected via a generic network cable (Cat7, 40' length between the Roon and the Lumin) with a cheap generic switch. The Lumin has the capability of receiving via an optical connection.

Aha, so I'm not the only one to look skyward and watch this thread rush past. My streaming contact I believe uses an Aqvox switch w LPS.

He's also more a believer on I2S over Usb, his favoured dacs being Holo Spring Kitsune Edn and Denafrips Terminator.

Thank you for this information but just out of curiosity since there is a praising to HFS1155 and it is comparable to M12 Gold switch, why you bought eventually Melco S100?

There's this deal when I purchased my Melco S100 back in December 2019 and they're knocking 15% off all items available on Rakuten, HFS1155 was never listed on Rakuten and therefore I couldn't go for that particular option even if I wanted to

https://media.buyee.jp/campaign/rakuten191219/en/

It's gonna take time to do some research on how to get both 25MHz clock as well as internal PSU replaced, and then I was also hoping that at some point HFS1155 could be shipped by JS PC Audio internationally without having to go through a Shopping Proxy Service. In addition, they might also be willing to make another 220V version later this year and that's why I'd rather wait for such option.

Just got my 2nd switch hooked up yesterday. Going optical as recommended by CK. I will keep it simple. It's out of this world, it sounds bloody bloody good. Get some good footers for the txusb ultra if you are us 03204CF6-6063-4DC9-A968-71C482EA2044.jpg 03204CF6-6063-4DC9-A968-71C482EA2044.jpg IMG_1267.jpg with the ceramic balls.
