In the few short weeks since LINES OF COLOR was released, we have already received rave reviews from the critics! Below are a few select quotes, but if you are interested in reading the full reviews, please click here for a complete list of quotes and articles.
"Lines Of Color is nothing short ofexhilarating."
- Frank Alkyer, DOWNBEAT, Editor's Pick (March 2015)

"The gorgeous lilt of Evans' still startling original arrangements for horns is preserved, not in the aspic of academia butin the living, breathing performances of a group of New York's finest musician ssuch as Evans might have selected himself."
- Cormac Larkin, THE IRISH TIMES (4 stars)

"The orchestra's big sound is made unimposing by its abundance of warmth. An amazing album that repeatedly provides a sense of liftoff."

Is this live version the same or different?

All of the tracks on the CD were recorded Live at Jazz Standards, New York City, May 13-18, 2014.

Gil Evans wrote "Sunday Driving" in 1947, when he was writing for the Thornhill Orchestra. This coincided with
the period when Lee Konitz (Alto Sax) joined the Orchestra.

The night that the Gil Evens Project recorded "Sunday Driving," Lee Konitz was in the audience.
Dave Pietro played the Alto Sax parts that were written for Lee.
