I had added two 18 inch Scaena subwoofers at 45 hz lowpass crossover using Crown XLS 2502.

It add slightly more rumble and tighter bass.

But the difference is rather small.

That means Altec A7 can do well without any subwoofers at my listening room.

I also had tried Gate of Dafos but got similar impression.

Since you have the subs you might want to try different crossover frequencies. For example try 80Hz so the sub is now doing the first 2 octaves. I don't know what you are using as a crossovers but if it's a L/R it's 6dB down at the crossover point. That and the slope and you are barely even using the subs.

I am using the crossover function inside XLS 2502.

80hz appears to be too high but I will try 56 hz.

OK so you are using the DSP in the amp. So it is 24db L/R, you are limited to frequency only. How are you rolling of the A7's?? If you are not experiment with the polarity on the subs. There could be an inversion you may not be aware of.

also, did you match SPL? 3dB off means you hear half of what you should,
And, even more importantly, did you put them in time sync with the A7? (meaning, did you shove them around the room to align time coherence of the output with the A7, or measure it?)

re-labeled eighteen sound woofer (bastanis speaker mandala)not available today .when you build a ripole search for a woofer with fs ~ 35hz,qts around 0.4-0.6 and linear stroke of 6-8mm. Look beyma

Due to their smallness the chambers add a serious dynamic load to the drivers which leads to the lowering of Fs and raise of Qts.
The smallest chamber shows the greatest effect and depending on the driver parameters Fs may sink by up to 15Hz. You get around real -3db at 20hz.
