Holbo mk2 Airbearing Turntable System

Looks nice.
Where is the pump hose.
How do you route the tone arm cable.
Do you have cable options.

I think you can see the air connector and the phono DIN 5 pole cable connector.

Looks like you can adjust VTA during playback, is that correct ?

Hello Bostjan,

How noisy is the air pump? Must it be located in a different room than the room in which the turntable is located?

The Holbo mk2 air pump is very quiet, almost inaudible and can be used in the same room as a turntable. To hear it working, you need to get very close to your ear.

Here is one of my demonstration turntables, a Holbo II with a ZYX Omega cartridge mounted. I have to say this is such a lovely turntable, not only from its ability to provide excellent sound quality, but also it is lovely to use, as well as punching well above its weight from a cost/performance perspective. Latterly, I have been using it with the wonderful ZYX Ultimate Dynamic and Ultimate Exceed Dynamic cartridges.

This exceptional turntable really does give a beautifully well balanced sound and is extremely easy and very precise to set up for maximum performance and is a total bargain at the price.

Hello Graham!

If I remember correctly you demoed for me tube amplifiers on Analysis Audio planars!

The Holbo looks great in those photos! It's a relatively simple and very modestly priced way to get linear-tracking and air bearing vinyl playback. I also like ZYC cartridges.

Hi Ron,

Yes, it was the tube amplifier demo with the Cessaro Liszt horns. I seem to recall you came with Marc and it was a nice afternoon visit. I agree, the Holbo is very simple and a very affordable and effective way to get an air bearing turntable and linear tracking tonearm, plus the ZYX cartridges are also a very good match for the Holbo too.

Yes, the Trons.

I auditioned the Analysis Audio with somebody else in the English countryside. I'm sure Marc would remember.

Probably Ked.

Someone was selling a linear tracking arm at a show 3 or 4 years ago. I was in the pit selling electrical panels. JR was there representing his Wally Tools products. I asked him about a linear tracking arm. He noted the tolerance had to be very tight as any movement made chatter. An issue also present with arms that are, for the most part, a domed cup with a pin in the center.

Do you have any data or measurements that support the claim of tight tolerance and negligible chatter between the tube and sleeve of the arm?

Kingrex, your question is a valid one. Audiophilia is filled with generalizations. That said, I would never suggest my friend and colleague JR of that communication:) That said, Botsjan will be able to address this. My sense, based on following this product closely and the number of customers reporting that it not only performs with the highest level cartridges but also delivers goods in terms of SQ, would suggest it is an extremely well-engineered and quite a reliable arm and table. The value per dollar offered with this product is simply A+.

In full disclosure, I am a fan of well-executed modern, tangential tonearms, such as those by Kuzma and Bergmann.
