Degritter ultrasonic record cleaner

Hi y’all, just a few words on what I think is a worthy alternative to the Audio Desk Systeme and KLAudio ultrasonic cleaners.

http://degritter.com/media-kit/

I’ve been a beta tester on the Degritter for the last few weeks, and am happy to offer my opinions and answer any qs for those interested.

I believe official launch is in early May, and at this stage after a couple of quibbles in day to day use, I’m planning to keep my unit, it’s been a pretty good success, and invaluable addition to day to day life as a vinyl addict.

Also have my eyes on the Degritter.

Have had the first generation of the AudioDesk cleaner for several years and it's been a pretty bad experience.
When it worked, it was great but ...

After about a year the capstans rotating the record died. Sent of for repairs in Germany (I'm in Sweden), took about 2 months and cost about 5000 SEK (approx $500).
About 4 months ago the waterpump died, sent it off for repairs again, only to be informed last week (it took freakin 4 months!) that it is "too old to be repaired", but they offered to sell me a new (now the "Pro" model) for half the retail price (approx $1800). Don't even know if I'll get my old machine back.

Though it seems to be completely glued together, I thought I'd give it a try to replace the pump myself. Nothing to loose ...

Dealer said that through the years he had about 30% of the first generation AudioDesk cleaners returned for repairs.

Supposedly the current AudioDesk "Pro" model is more reliable, but I think I'm done with the Gläss Audiodesk as a company.

Lucky. I've heard about a lot problems, with the same slooooow customer service and "can't repair, have to sell you a new $2000 unit instead" stories from many folks. But every now and then I also hear of a satisfied customer.

No word on your machine?

Or were you one of the unfortunates who recieved it and had to send it back for the latest fix?

I've been told everything shipping now has permanent fixes for the temperature sensor and the water level sensor. Hopefully those are the last of the problems.

Yes unfortunately I had quite a few issues with my machine and it had to go back. In the end I opted for a refund. Im fairly confident that that the guys at Degritter will sort out the issues and will continue to supply machines. Like any new product on the market there will be hurdles to overcome.

I wish them all the best for the future

Marc, are you still happily using a beta version or did you return that for a production unit?

I'm waiting until initial pressure on the company dies down, and then get my permanent unit.

My issues were all early in the test process.

Does that mean you are still using a beta version, or did you return that one a while ago?

Thanks for the info. Interesting the beta machine issues were worked out, but the production models had issues.

Anyway...I just received notice mine has shipped! Should be here mid-next week.

, COF.
Recent news from Degritter says they've sent out 70 machines.
That's a pretty good success story, bravo to the team.
