Too bad! It would have been interesting...

keep this one...I´m not finished yet
a true DIY´r is constantly on the move, partially because we´re mostly self-driven and not dependant on tech support/help
the challenge is the balancing act between increased resolution and tonality/musicality, but as the years pass by, one knows what does what and how to accomplish the results one wishes

That's all great, but the topic here is videos, and I have yet to find phone videos comparing system changes that offer evidence to support the idea that iphone videos are "good enough".

we are not trying to convince you. We know. Convince us otherwise like we asked

Contrary to what you may think, I am completely open to the idea. I just have not seen anything convincing. I am not asking you to convince me, I asked christensenleif@msn.com if he had previous videos. I am not trying to convince you either.

There were many many little and some not-so-little sonic changes between the timestamps of each before and after video.

Ok but purely phone or with external microphone?

There were many many little and some not-so-little sonic changes between the timestamps of each before and after video.

The second ones have a fuller sound than the first. I think I can even hear the difference on my phone (without headphones). There are probably a number of changes (perhaps even the phone/mic placement).

I was referring more to changes in one component, such as the filters in the previous examples, or changes to DACs for example (though those are sometimes inaudible even when listening in the room!).

I'll experiment for myself at some point.

Sounded like you were just hoping to hear differences between otherwise similar videos, period. For me, single improvements that could be significant in the room, can rarely be detected in a video. A single difference has to be pretty profound for me to discern it via a video.

BTW, all the above videos should have been same room, phone, Shure MV88 mic, same recording location, similar volume levels, settings, etc.

It is very possible that we get tricked. It is better to do these tests "blinded".

Take Five does sound noticeably different between it's two recordings. I did not check, but I don't think they are level matched.

Volume levels can vary by a db or 2 as I don't have a digital readout giving me an exact volume number. Just like my iphone and Shure MV88 are always approximately in the same location but can always vary by an inch or 2 in any given direction.

I always attempt to only apply reasonable due diligence to this crap. Nothing more..., perhaps because I'm reasonable. :)

BTW, sometimes volume levels need to be adjusted down a tad in after / more recent videos because some improvements will noticeably increase the dynamics and/or overall output volume levels. IOW, sometimes when more music info remains audible at the speaker (after changes occur) this will actually increases output volume levels. These types of sonic changes can lead to brushing up against the external mic's sensitivity limitations/settings. So I try to be mindful of that.

I normally only post digitally sourced systems cuz I'm interested in getting a better digital source and don't need help with analog but here's a reminder of the high bar set by good vinyl playback:

On topic:

That's just Greg in uncharted waters protecting himself from anybody who may speak negatively about his in-room recordings. Though I'm pretty sure he's still willing to accept any accolades.

Regardless, considering one or 2 years ago, Greg wouldn't even fathom the thought of sharing an in-room video and used every excuse under the sun to discredit in-room videos, I think it's excellent progress.

Greg also says here there's no way possible his or any in-room video with all its limitations can be representative of anybody's playback system. He may not realize it yet, but his video with all its limitations is actually as reasonably representative of his system and his due diligence as is everyybody else's videos. He just needs more time. :)

Great movie, Cat People, and great song. Completely forgot about both it's been so long.
