Good one.A lot of speakers vibrate/ distort so much on this material they almost start walking to the exit by themselves.

This is my organ reference track for evaluating set-ups:
Matt
I am sorry … However that is quite simply dreadful !
Here are a couple of videos comparing my Lamm ML2 to my Pass Labs Aleph 3.
Were the microphones placed at the exact same location ?
Did you match the volume levels ?
What recording equipment did you use? I’m thinking a phone ?
I must have bad hearing, as the differences are not obvious to me. When i listen to the video "casually" without looking at it, i cannot tell when there is a change of DAC. Sometimes the level seems to vary slightly, that’s about it,Here's a comparison where DAC sound differences are easily heard:

To hear any differences you need listen to the video in the actual YouTube channel (click on the YouTube logo), where for some reason the sound is much clearer and more open than when playing the embedded video from WBF. But even then the differences are not that great, although some are discernable.
Given the Lampi being a tube DAC I had expected a significantly different tonal balance on the voices (fuller with the Lampi), but that's not what I hear. Good to know, that would not necessarily be a reason to get a Lampi I guess. But that may also depend on the model.
Tried it on YouTube and the sound is a little better, but I still cannot tell the difference "blinded". It would probably be better if the DACs were revealed in the description only, so you could choose to listen to the video without knowing what was being compared... I may just need to rest my ears, it's been a long day!
The difference to me is significant, the Denafrips DAC is relatively dead sounding and I can happily cross it off my list.To hear any differences you need listen to the video in the actual YouTube channel (click on the YouTube logo), where for some reason the sound is much clearer and more open than when playing the embedded video from WBF. You're welcome. Agree regarding the 3rd track, if anyone wants to listen to it:Thanks, Rexp, for posting this. Very interesting.
This is my go-to mind boggling reference on these type of recordings. I have used it for quite a long time to bring my feet back to earth when working on my own designs.Try this one
Big churches in Europe reverb like that and have very long decayIMO, there is quite a range to the sound of organs in various halls and churches. I actually think Tim‘s recording of the Bach organ sounds closest to what I hear at my local church. Some of the other recordings are impressive but sound a bit thin to me with a lot of reverb. All of the various Oregon recordings recently posted on this thread sounds pretty good to me, but they are all different and I think it’s hard to judge a system with this music over YouTube compared to something like a string quartet.
I think the Aries Cerat system is the most realistic playback of this piece you will find.IMO, there is quite a range to the sound of organs in various halls and churches.
