I still am a firm believer that fully balanced xlr cables will sound better than single ended rcas And guard against noise as well.

That might be a fair distinction, but a distinction without a practical difference. If you use the old school method of setting an AM radio receiver between broadcast stations and walking around you'll generally find a lot of noise in the "air."

Yes but having the IC with a ground on it attenuates a lot of noise. Even balanced aren't 100% noise free because there is no such thing. Generally speaking as long as IC's are connected at both ends and you don't live very close to a radio transmission tower... then to have any RF really coming through means your gear isn't working/designed right.

Let's say you have 3db of noise, but your twisted single ended IC's attenuate 26db.... Where's the issue?

I use mcintosh pre and power amplifiers and they are fully balanced.I noticed a big improvement going to fully balanced interconnects after years of using single ended rca.I was even told this by the dealer that all mcintosh sounds better fully balanced.in your case it might be different Ron.

Interesting. I was recently at my local HI FI shop and I was listening to a MC275 and I forgot the speakers but the owner said and I quote, " I think it sounds better single ended than through balanced" lol I guess we all hear and listen different.

That is a surprise to me but your right , we all listen differently.mcintosh always says in its manual to connect with balanced cable.

To reconcile some of my component/cable/power decisions with which he emphatically disagreed, one of my local audio buddies simply claimed that I prefer to hear noise in my system. I think it was because I prefer the sound of my cheap Chinese power cords to his expensive Shunyata cords. Go figure! Yes, we hear, prioritize, and prefer different sounds.

We moved in in early May, with the clothes and stuff we have been lugging around for the last four years. In late May we had delivered to the house everything that has been in deep storage for the last four years.

I am very sorry to learn that you have experienced two floods. What caused each flood?

Yes; everything that is visible is dry, at least.

As an aside, it was quite frustrating to see that every single building we observed in Marrakesh, Morocco, AFRICA, is built out of poured concrete or cinderblocks -- not the crappy, flimsy wood and nails residential construction we have in the USA.

Ron, there’s a lot of sand in morocco and not a lot of trees. Wood construction is cheap and fast.

Unfortunately all that concrete is also accelerating climate change which makes the rains come fiercer and causes floods to pour and the seas to rise… but on the bright side at least cheap wood floats Maybe invest in marine ply and don’t tether your subfloor to your foundations… just sayin

Yes, the current market share of timber houses in Germany is around 18%. But unfortunately a good quality timber house can be a lot more expensive than concrete or bricks.

Not a guess but a fact. That's true depending on each listener preference.

I found out and confirmed yesterday that the turn-on and operation of the air conditioning zone right next to the listening room causes very high-level buzzing on my analog telephone line.

That landline telephone is plugged into a Tripplite Isobar power block which has passive RFI filtering, so the RFI likely is airborne.
