Nice step up,but please remove the anti-kink spring from the input cable. this dramatically increases the capacity of the cable( bandwidth). maybe it's also wanted, then ignore my comment.

no.. it was proven in a measurement in another forum 4-10 picofarad x step ratio transformer + phono cable + input capacity of the phon preamp. then there are already high values that can be heard. So keep this as small as possible, otherwise it acts as a high-frequency filter.
it is only tip from me to get better results.

Interesting observation. Thank you for sharing this. More important will be which sounds better to the listener. I wonder if I will be able to hear a difference in my system, or if anyone has actually listened and heard a difference.

Thanks for the sharing Tang, it is very comprehensive and informative. I also found out there are pros and cons using SUT, heavily reliance on personal preference and the type of recordings that the user listen in most. Love or hate situation, cannot have the goodies of both world.

They sound more realistic though the sound could be closer to what I’m hearing at home and accustomed to. The other two sound slightly softer, a sound I associate with vintage horns systems, perhaps a colouration.
Don’t read too much into it.

1a = sounds more organic. 1b seems less refined and a little more subdued and straining to reach the natural portrayal of music as exhibited in 1a.
2b = ditto

(Note: the difference in my perceived listening impressions are that 1a and 1b are closer in sound qualities with 1a edging out 1b. However, I feel that 2b is vastly more organic and natural sounding with less strain compared to 2a.

Less refined is a great description, like brown sugar, closer to the truth. For me and my slightly older ears 1A/2b sound like recordings and give that pleasant relaxed feeling. I don’t want that from my music. Real life is ugly.
