Peter I am not sure I agree. I know so many people that want to take a survey of all possible participants which usually ends in IMO not making the best choice. I agree that people want what they think they want which is influenced by more factors than we can list. I will say this and I am sure the readers won't like my statement but many buy by looks and price. When you ask people why they bought something the number one answer is "i got a great deal"
I always say if you listen and the place you listen doesn't have good sound then why are you buying there? I guess I am crazy

Elliot, I think we’re saying the same thing. I happen to think that it’s actually not all subjective, but lots of people keep repeating that they think it’s all subjective as though it is.

People buy things for all sorts of reasons. We should not assume sound quality is the primary reason for everyone.

For many it certainly is not

Oh please Mike. Go focus on listening to music or something positive in your life.

We all know what really went down with you and Dartzeel - regardless of how you try to spin it, along with MSB, and Wadax.

You really need to drop the Hollier-than-thou bit. You're likely to get stuck by lightening.

Your faux routine of pretending to be shocked-by-people-being-bought is so fifth grade.

Maybe you should spend more time trying to deal with those posts people have posted about what it's like buying your overpriced speakers and trying to deal with you?

Sorry you're still mad I was right about Tannoy and you were wrong.

An interesting comment that deserves analysis. I think it is a consequence of the nature of the hobby. We only know if it is a final choice after having listened to gear after some time, that exceeds the possibility of returns. Getting a good deal minimizes the risk of excessive monetary loss when changing. I only got gear new from the box when I was fully sure that I wanted it and would keep it for a long time. Most often I buy used gear in excellent condition.

Due to distribution arrangements and logistics of buying buyers seldom have the possibility of listening to the whole system as they want it.

You are making my point. If your decision is based on the price or the deal then its not really about just what it sounds like, it is by definition a compromise. As far as hearing the whole thing my point was if you go to listen and the sound is not good then why are you buying there. If the manufacturer or dealer can't make good sound then why reward that and why consider their opinion. If the food is bad would you consistently go back.
BTW what you are describing is not how the overwhelming majority of business is done. You just cant get anything you want for as long as you want and then when done buy it used elsewhere.

Enjoy your Wadax.

And try focusing on something positive, you'll be a happier person for it.
I don't know you but IMO if you are going to prosecute someone here online you best bring receipts.
In real life people don't behave like that and this is a big reason the world is so f-cked up , being a chicken sheet keyboard warrior.
Making accusations of illegal action online without proof does that get you clicks?

Yes, one more compromise - high-end sales are intrinsically a mix of compromises. There are many equivalently good sounding products, should we consider that only those where we spend RRP are the best sounding ones?

Surely I am not addressing Florida or even the US, that represent now less than two thirds of the high-end world market. All over the world many excellent brands are not well represented.

BTW what you are describing is not how the overwhelming majority of business is done. You just cant get anything you want for as long as you want and then when done buy it used elsewhere.

I consider such behavior unethical, sorry.

Who said anything illegal?? How did you bring that in from thin air?

Mike claims reviewers and forum people are not bought and paid for by companies and distributors.

We all know that is a patently false statement as the companies and distributors themselves admit it.

Mike is well known by people in the industry and what he offers. Mike chose to interject himself towards me and I responded.

You just have been sore about Tannoy after all this time. It's ok you were wrong. Just accept it and move on with your life. It's not healthy you are so upset about being wrong.

to be clear i claimed nothing at all. i reacted to your accusations regarding the forum members. when you posted;

>>>the compensated shills on this forum. It's not a secret in the industry.<<<

you could have backed away but instead you doubled down challenging the forum with this.

>>>Yes.

No one's compensation stays a secret. Everyone talks. I've actually seen the invoices some of them send as well.<<<

ok, another unfounded personal innuendo attack.

making those accusations invites a response. i defended the forum and it's members from your accusations. nothing personal about me. but when crap is posted that attacks the forum then some here are going to react. i think maybe bloggers like you are so into hyperbole about 'everyone else who does not get it' that you see no boundaries to respectful conduct. you are in your own little us against the world mentality.

why attack this forum? what is in it for you?

Attack this forum? What a victim.

You can't build up the reputation you have Mike and then get upset when people talk about it.

It's ok - embrace what you've been able to accomplish.
