I've long liked the Elgar Cello Concerto and always preferred the more-strongly-played versions over the more-controlled versions. But I've never fallen in love with it until I heard this one.

This performance I just LOVE...it's perfect in every way for me.. It's strong when the music needs to be strong, tender when it needs that, has excellent multichannel SQ, and wait'll you hear the opening burst of anguish!

The Tchaikovsky Variations and three short pieces are plenty OK, but they're just fillers after the Elgar.

I didn't find this exact album on Qobuz but the 4 albums I did find were a little too progressive for this beginner in classical music

Not an unfair statement. Could you mention an album or recent post in here that you did find accord with.

I'll take more care in what I attempt to make you listen to.

Since you, or anyone else for that matter, made no reply - here. I have relistened to the latter half of Elegy my enjoyment was found within. Both the Krenek and Bartók works and their interpretation lack challenging progressive elements the ear/audiences would reject. Recording given them is not without merit either.

I'm grateful for all the recommendations here in this thread but I can't listen to all of them. May it either be due to a lack of time or that I can't find the exact recording on Qobuz or Tidal (like with the album you mentioned from Pina Napolitano). I did listen into the four other albums of her and didn't find them to my taste. Maybe they were a little over my (classical novice) head but I gave them a try and commented back.
