Videos of Acoustically-Coupled Audio Recordings

And that’s how it should sound. Love the simplicity of your system and such an inviting room.

Can't see your new version but I don't think the original track is that well recorded, lacks fluidity and luminosity of the vibraphone, compared to say this;View attachment 111108

That's a good album (at least to my tastes). The sound quality is good, but nothing exceptional. "Bags Meets West" is very nicely recorded, IMO:

But to evaluate a system, and even more so changes to a system, you don't really need a high quality recording. Moreover, a good system, IMO, will make a lot of recordings sound fabulous!

You would be amazed to see how much you can hear with a pair of headphones like the HD 400 Pro I mentioned before. It may not be the most musical headphone out there, but for the purpose of watching system videos, it fits the bill perfectly.

In the second video I posted, I only made changes to the acoustics of the room... The difference, when listening in the room is obvious - with a recording, less so, but still noticeable.

Try this one:

I am assuming that's a sub next to the speaker on the left. The room is nice, the sound is ok, but there's clearly a disconnect between the speakers and the subs. It could be fine-tuned, perhaps, but listening to this video, I don't get the impression that a sub is really going to fix the issues (for example, the vocals are completely "off" in terms of tonality)... Here we have a bright, thin sounding, pair of speakers combined with a sub that probably does not offer a very tight bass anyway (or perhaps the room modes are getting in the way). I would not call this a "first tier system", as you mentioned. Of course, I am not discounting the fact that the recording could introduce some distortions to what could be heard in the room.

When you ever be in italy drive to milano and listen there.
i know a lot of hifi shops but this the best i ever hear. example i'm not a fan of the old nautilus never heard it good back 20 years. i still know when presenting the loudspeaker which amplifiers they all tried out and it sounded bad. he knows how to do it. the most impressive thing was the klipsch la scala in the room

La scala

The Nautilus setup sounds Icy cold. No thx. The Klipsch La Scala (had them in college) sounds colored (as they always do) but a lot of fun and enjoyable to listen to.

All his videos seem a tad cold, really shows up poor digitally sourced system playback. I like it.

When you hear in real you never say its icy cold.
they were the first where all drivers used the same cone material for all. today yamaha does that with the ns 5000.
maybe but the klipsch is more fun than many other speakers.
That's the main thing when listening to music, my opinion.
if you want neutrality you have to listen to old K&H speakers today neumann, there you can analyze every color in the tone.

Maybe but the designer of that speaker is the same guy making the Vivid speakers, which also sound cold to me.

I think a lot of it has to do with the exaggerated reverb that I often hear on phone videos. That helps greatly in making it sound cold. It's hard to imagine a competent modern digital source to sound that cold when auditioned in person. I do think the Klipsch La Scala in the video sounds like absolute shit (and cold, too) -- no clue how it would sound in person. Here is the original in comparison:

Funny the rave comments below the video.

I have heard Vivid speakers (large models) twice in the past few years, and both times I had the same impression. Both of the owners are reviewers, and claim that these speakers offer some of the lowest distortion figures - they both like to listen to music very loud (a lot of symphonic music), and I assume this could be one of the advantages here. The Vivid speakers probably have exemplary frequency response, but something is clearly missing, to my ears - probably low level detail/resolution, I don't know. Could be a matter of taste.

Uncoloured sound ,when colour it comes only from the source.
the most neutral speaker I know.
P.S
if you have heard them, you know how much discoloration your speakers or your chain. Sometimes it's good to have a reference. K&H O 410 speaker

Hard to tell from this video, because the low end is missing. Sounds very bright.

Exactly. And metallic.

In other words, extremely colored.

This is horrible tone. And the tone is so homogenised. That’s the colour
