System videos: Jazz

Hi Don

Solid wood cabinet
1505b with 30166 (brass)
288c 16 ohm
515 RWB 20 ohm
N500F
High cables - Klangfilm green
Bass cables - old Japanese no-name. Looks like a fat Polk Cobra :)

I've recently tested many amps 300b, 2a3, and el34 with these speakers, and they work well with all of them. In the video, they use ecl82 4w.
You can hear the differences in the tubes, and it's hard to decide which one is better :)
Personally, I choose the 2a3.
The Altec A7 changed my sound taste many years ago, and I still love the Altec 604, A7, and A5.
That's why I still have the original A4.

Best regards, Darek

Thank you, Darek for your detailed reply regarding your speakers! Keep posting more vid's... I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing
Best wishes,
Don

Ok, thank you, it's very nice to receive positive feedback from the owner of the system whose videos show a beautiful palette of sound colors.

Derek, have you auditioned Types 45 and 50 valve amplification with your system ?

Hi, I only had the 45 Audio Note Paladin and tested it with the A5, 604b, 604e and 604-8g and the 45 was the best with the 604-8g, I know it's a basic amplifier, it got great NOS tubes, but I preferred the 2a3 PP and 300b SE, it's possible that another amplifier would be better with the 45

Derek,
You are so very kind! Thank you for such a wonderful compliment :) I feel the same about yours too!
Best wishes,
Don
