QSA LANEDRI Series

Anyone else noticing surprisingly better balance at low levels? I normally keep levels pretty moderate, but I was doing some 45-50db listening this morning and was surprised ad how fleshed out everything still sounded.

Yes, I listen a lot at low volume levels, especially at night. Veridion treatment improves clarity, presence, and dynamics in my system where I have found that I don't have to crank it up as loud for things to come alive. One of the most effective ways to improve low volume listening is to apply Veridion to your network and source. The improvement in dynamic punch and low level detail is bigger here than at the amplifier level. This is where a single Veridian LAN cable can make a big difference. Same with using a Veridian power cord for your router, switch, or music server.

Unfortunately, that's not just "an" old cable -- it's Power and Network cables for my NAS, 3 switches, and the Player, plus the HDMI cable... so ~11 cables in total?

Earlier in the thread I did do a shot-by-shot comparison of just the effect a first-generation Veridion Discovery power cord* had on my TV before I started swapping everything around: https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/qsa-lanedri-series.36078/page-39#post-1052866

* This was part of the crop that (per @QSA-LANEDRI) only had about 10% of the intended treatment applied to it!
Thanks jeremya, Would you be willing to send a pic of Gandolph from a different scene and in different light? Daylight, not in direct sun, would be good.

The other one, while showing extreme resolution, is hyper detailed in an unnatural way. I’m suspecting it’s the light used on his face in the scene, which is very stark with the dark black background.

So, I think it would be good to see his face in softer more natural light to rule out the possibility that the Veridian is hyping the resolution up too much. (This is common on the tv’s on display at Best Buy for instance, where they turn the contrast way up in order to get attention.)

Ive ordered some discovery cables to try for myself, btw.

With regards to A/B evaluation of the HDMI cable, we certainly welcome it but there are caveats that are different compared to A/B testing with audio. As previously mentioned, the impact of Veridion treatment will linger. This seems to linger longer with video. If you are going to remove a Veridian HDMI cable, I would suggest you wait 24 hours then take a snapshot of a static image and use that for comparison. When you switch back to the Veridian HDMI cable, there will be some settling time but you should see it's impact fairly readily within 5-10 minutes. Feel free to take a snapshot then.

Those who know their projector or panel well generally don't need to A/B. The impact should be VERY obvious.

This brings back memories of the AXPONA show, where we had two identical setups but only one pair of speakers, so we had to switch the speaker cables for each A/B comparison. Each time, we improvised a 5–10 minute talk to allow the residual impact of Veridion, which lingers in the system after switching cables, to fully dissipate. All that effort was instantly rewarded when we switched to the setup with Veridion cables: the live expressions of shock on the audience’s faces said it all, often followed by unforgettable reactions and remarks.

That corroborates with my experience. When I swapped the Veridion HDMI in part of the way into the movie, I had to turn the volume down a couple of notches (at my family's request) in order to match levels. (The other cable is a Wireworld Platinum Starlight).

Note, this was with the full loom of Veridion Discovery network and power cables already in place: I simply paused the film on the Magnetar, swapped the Veridion Discovery HDMI over from the Apple TV to the Magnetar, and resumed playback. My wife and kids said "could you turn it down a little" because to them the difference was apparent. Not bad at all, just too loud.

Last night before concluding my listening session, I swapped the power cord feeding the Farad Super 3 that is powering my EtherRegen. A brand new Veridion replaced a Shunyata Venom 14 NR. I immediately heard a difference but elected to just head off to bed.

Today’s listening suggested that this cord powering a switch might be another winner except for one downside. There’s something off with certain bass notes as if a resonance is being excited. I’m hoping it’s just an artifact of insufficient burn in. Have you ever observed this?

I will say though the QSA goodness is much more evident tonight than it was last night.

Hopefully, it's a temporary phenomenon that will go away with further burn in. Please keep us posted. Anas and I are very fond of the Farad power supplies. We have found it to scale very positively with Veridion. We have treated non-audiophile switches and so far, we have heard only positive things. My EtherRegen had been collecting dust and so I decided to experiment with it. I sent the switch to Anas and he applied Veridion treatment to the switch itself. I hope to hear the effect of treatment on this switch in a few weeks. It is with network equipment where we have seen gains beyond our expectations and so there will be a lot of focus on the network moving forward.

Thanks - will do.

I also have one of those QSA-L DC extension cables between the Farad and my EtherRegen. That brought a surprising improvement. Surrounding it with additional treated cables will serve it well, I think.

I put a QSA DC pigtail on my ISP's router (as it's a captive-cord SMPS wall-wart supply) some months ago.

I remember it bringing a nice lift to things (before doing a "full send" on Veridion Discovery cables was a thing).

That's similar to my usage as well. The power strip has been on upstream network components for a bit over 150 hours. I just added one of the new Discovery power cables to the switch in front of my server/audio pc. It replaced a similarly-priced Neotech cable, so not a huge contest there. Once those are burned in it'll be the ethernet cable's turn. It'll go in between the last switch and my audio pc, replacing a Fidata HFLC. The Fidata should provide better competition in comparison to my previous swaps. I'm looking forward to making that comparison.

The issue I reported in post #910 does appears to have vanished with further burn in.

Reviewing the dialog on QSA/Lanedri LAN cables I found post #762 on page 39. How do the LAN cables across the Discovery/Gamma/Spectra lines compare in Veridon editions?

They will be expectedly better with the higher lines and it's not just about incorporating Veridion. Beginning with the Gamma, the cables will look the part and will be professionally dressed, labeled, and packaged. They will be larger gauge where possible and may contain performance enhancements that go beyond just the gauge. For example, we have enhancements with Veridion that we are reserving exclusively for the higher lines. With the LAN cables, you can for sure expect better connectors. If you pay more for a cable, you have the right to expect more and so we are careful to properly include cables in a line only if they meet a specific performance spec. Sometimes, this gets tricky due to supply chain issues and now tariff issues. To this extent, Gamma, Spectra, and Ultimatum are going through a revamping that requires not just sourcing the best raw materials but also expensive retooling in our treatment facility in Belgium and so we ask for patience on these lines.

Any chance you (or Anas) might comment on whether there are plans to have a series that occupies the price point previously held by the Gamma Revelation? Or did not enough of the Gamma Revelation get sold to justify it? Feel free to decline to answer, I was just curious as the current Gamma Veridion pricing is pretty much beyond my reach.
