Food for thought, the pros and cons of cartridge retipping and modifying

I would like to hear the opinions of forum members familiar with the process of retipping and modifications of cartridges no longer serviced by the manufacturer.

Please take a look at the attached photo. How seriously can you take someone who uses a hand drill to rewind a coil, how accurate can it be?

My guess that the "hand drill" is only to clamp it like a 3rd hand...
