Can you share with us which exact models did you have ? You know, there is the Audio Note DAC Zero and the DAC 5 Signature

Jtinn, that was very cool - a competitor complementing CH - very classy. Dartzeel is super gear - btw (but you know that).
I currently own the CH D1 and C1 together. Before CH I owned DCS,MSB, Jadis, Goldmund and Audio Note dacs. First I started with just the D1 and I can tell you without any hesitation that the D1 is the best integrated cd/sacd player on the market. The sound is incredibly fluid with ultra fine detail and musicality. The Swiss Made build quality is also better than anything out there. Really Swiss jewels and I love the display features. I think the DCS and MSB look cheap compared to CH but in eyes of beholder. I decided to add the C1 after hearing the two using the proprietary CH link. So I agree with above; the D1 and C1 is state of the art. Now I know that audio is subjective, but I just can't see how this combo can be beat with exception of (maybe) the Trinity which is covered on WBF as well. Like Jfrech, I heard (and bought) from Audioarts in NYC. I know of another dealer who sells Wilson with CH together and swears by the combo. Florian Cossy and Thierry Hieb of CH were with Goldmund, then started Orpheus and created Anagram Technologies before CH - very serious pedigree. Bottom line I'm very happy and listen hours on end, something I never used to do with my former digital. But you still have to listen before buying!
For insight here's the current TAS issue review of CH: http://cybwiz.zenfolio.com/tas_ch_review.pdf
And added insight into CH from a TAS factory visit (current issue as well): http://cybwiz.zenfolio.com/tas_swiss.pdf
Yes. I agreed to the sound from Ethernet connection has better integration and the sound stage is deeper than the USB connection. The Ethernet Connection can accept the native DSD 5.6448MHz file without the Dop.
Hi CKKeung,Hi jsn,
Two friends of mine are new C1 owners. One of them has bought the ethernet card but not set up the NAS yet.
May you share with us the hardware & software (e.g. NAS, playback software...) to use with the C1 & its ethernet input?
Many thanks!
From my friend who also owns Horch Stage and Power stage - one of the absolute best sounding pre and amps on the market.
"Well the improvement with the X1 is quite substantial! I am quite surprised.
It has taken the C1 to a different level. The sound is smoother, more analog, lower noise floor, more dynamic, including micro dynamics, a lot more details.Soundstage is wider. In all respects, just much much better."
This is great news, before C1 without X1 PSU beats dCS Vivaldi and MSB Diamond, now C1 with X1 I think also beats Trinity dac.
Agreed Mr. Wizard!
I ordered an X1 for my C1 as well. With the X1 in the picture it became much more settled down and refined with a greater sense of weight and ease. This is a very serious upgrade to the already phenomenal C1. Love this dac..

from Danon : To me Vitus MP-D sounded more analog , detail retrieval of both DAC's are in the same league. CH will sound impressive initially but as you pump up the vol, digititis creeps in .CH is out of my room. Vitus is staying.
Hi Jazzhead,
It's interesting to note that the Vitus MP-D201 dac employs Anagram Timelock master clock and Anagram S2 modules, both of which are designed also by C&H of CH Precision.

Thanks!
I would think so ... mainly the implementation of the circuit and the voicing intended by the designer . I have not heard the CH for any extended length of time or had it in my chain to make a definitive statement , but the Vitus in my rig does provide for a flowing analog like presentation rather than a staccato delivery prevalent with some other DAC's . The Zanden and Kondo DAC's will provide even more flow , but not as much detail retrieval coupled with the very low distortion and noise floor of the Vitus and the CH . The Trinity , by all accounts is a step up from the above mentioned and am keen to audition it . Heard it yet ?
Yes, I heard Trinity once. It makes the Vivaldi DAC+Upsampler+Clock sound a bit digital in comparison! haha
I have also heard the CH C1 several times but not together with the X1 yet.
There are very few Trinity DAC & Vitus MP-D201 in Hong Kong so no direct comparison yet.
However the net price of CH Precision C1 in HK is significantly lower than Vitus MP-D201 & Trinity so the C/P ratio is much better.
The Trinity does seem in short supply , an audio society in KL are gearing up to have a DAC shoot out amongst leading contenders . The Singapore dealer who was to supply them with the Trinity , now says he has no stock , so that's on the back burner as of now . That is unless they decide to go ahead sans the Trinity, which would be a shame . Since you are well versed with both the CH and your MSB , could you provide us a comparison between the two . Thanks .
