I don't quite know how to take that comment. Have you seen the in-room measurements for those speakers? But you don't even have to do that. Sanders himself acknowledges his speakers were designed to have a narrow listening window. It's a different, but equally valid approach to say, a dipole radiating linesource speaker like the Genesis Prime which has a wide listening window. To each their own..Yes I am going to start a thread on well intentioned audio myths usually started by audio reviewers.
By definition tion a sweet spot is narrow.
Greg, I wasn't making any value judgment about the ultimate sound of the Model 10 statters. Roger Sanders has a well earned reputation as an innovator in electrostatis loudspeaker design. I was merely observing that the speaker is not perfect. Like the original Vandy Model 7, It has some limitations which obviously many are happy to live with. It is also worth observing that there is no such thing as a perfect speaker. Loudspeaker design is about a blend of acceptable compromises based on the Designer's goals around a given price point.I don't want to hijack this thread into debate about dispersion I am fresh off listening to the speaker. I already stated that it is time to move on from that dated description of his speaker. Even Roger.
IMO anyone who passes on this speaker because of it does themselves a diservice.
This is of course an advice thread. Feel free to reject my suggestion.
PS. If you have a link to measurements on Roger's Speakers I would like to see them.
I really have a hard time liking YG, heard the Hailey and Sonja sereval times
For my own edification I would like see some measirements. For the most part dispersion has not been the strong suit of panel speakers. As a former Maggie and ML owner I never considered it ia disqualifjier.Greg, I wasn't making any value judgment about the ultimate sound of the Model 10 statters. Re: Measurements. I doubt posting lab test results will further advance the discussion given every aspect of lab testing is up for debate, from which response curves are chosen down to the choice of microphone. But to answer your question, I don't recall which publication posted the review and test results as that was many years ago.
By any chance did you hear the Hailey 2.2’s? I’d been hesitant about YGs frankly ever since the move away from the original Anat. When I heard the Hailey 2.2’s it was an “I’d buy these if I could afford it” moment. I preferred them to the Sonjas. I honestly didn’t take to the Vantages when I heard them at AXPONA.
YG Hailey 2.2 against Borresen 03 woud be interesting.

We were showing the Hailey 2s at that same Axpona, we got even a mention for Best in Show from TAS...
One thing with YG is that you’ll need careful amp matching as well as cabling.
I find YG (aside from perhaps the Sonja which has nice proportions) looks too 'toolish' for my tastes. I much prefer the Industrial design of Magico S and particularly M series. Rockport's top models look great also, but are over-priced imho.I preferred the Hailey 2.2’s, but then I was never a big fan of Raidhos, or of the Borresens I’ve heard so far.
I had YG Anat iii for in home extended demo. Tried to like them but my Maggie 20.7 at the time were more musical to me. Went to 2019 Axpona I heard the new Vimberg Tonda, very good. Also preferred Lumen White and AG Duo mezzo over some of the big players fwiw Oh and Gryphon Pantheon
