Rhapsody.Audio- Listening Rooms (RLRs)

Rhapsody.Audio would like to announce that within the next 3-4 months there will be multiple new locations where several of the product lines that Rhapsody.Audio represents will be available to audition via Rhapsody.Audio Listening Rooms (RLRs).

Initially, the RLR’s will have the products available for demonstration mentioned below. Upon opening, the DFW RLR will have a very similar product offering as that available at Rhapsody.Audio in Manhattan.

Over time, all locations will be expanding their portfolio to a comparable scale as that of NYC/DFW.

The RLRs will be available to host auditions by appointment. All product ordering and delivery logistics will be processed and supported from the Rhapsody.Audio NYC location.

Product assistance and installation will be supported by Rhapsody.Audio NYC along with the RLRs depending on customer location.

This is at a customer. After Daniele from ALSYDOX visited and tuned the system and after the system had broken in, the customer felt the subs were no longer needed. They are gone

Interesting the speakers are so close to the side walls and very toed in. Almost crossing at a 45. And one is next to glass and the other a wall.
You can literally touch the side walls with the Alsyvox speakers as there is zero lateral dispersion, just front and back. The glass on the right side has an acoustic cover over it. Unless a room is really wide most Alsyvox users spread the speakers as far apart as possible as the soundstage is very wide.

The toe-in is the recommended toe-in for Alsyvox speakers with the tweeters crossing in front of the listening position.

I had the chance to spend a full day at Rick's a few weeks ago - over 8 hours that flew by because I was absolutely transfixed. Honestly, it's some of the cleanest, most effortless sound I've ever heard, the kind that makes you forget about gear and just get lost in the music. Rick himself couldn't be a better host: incredibly knowledgeable, generous with his time, and just fun to hang out with. For what it's worth, I didn't notice any sidewall issues at all and couldn't tell any difference between the glass side and the wall side. The presentation was seamless start to finish, and I left still replaying it in my head days later.

My highlight of the show was the Alsyvox / Aries Cerat room. They were showing the baby Alsyvox speakers - the Tintorettos. These are 3 way planar ribbons. I have read a lot about Alsyvox on WBF, and those guys think it is amazing. I have to agree. They really do everything - throw a wide and stable image with a lot of depth, excellent separation of instruments, excellent reproduction of timbre. But what was really more impressive was the tactility of the sound - you can actually feel the sound in the way that you can feel a real instrument in the room. Complex and loud orchestral music is a good test - if you can still hear separate instruments with their timbres preserved and no smearing when the orchestra is going full tilt, it is doing very well. These things did reproduce Shostakovich very well, but there was some smearing in the midbass. I could also tell that they must be quite directional because the tonality shifted quite a bit off-axis. They aren't laser focused like some other panels, but they were probably about 45deg. My guess.

(I will say I’ve not listened to the Tintoretto, but have had Botticelli now for 3 years which is the same panel only about a foot taller.) One of the things I have found that makes the Alsyvox so special is the exact opposite — anywhere in the room the tonality is remarkably consistent. Granted, when you’re not in the sweet spot the image shifts, but I’ve never detected tonal shifts at all.

As far as I can recall, I’ve not heard this mentioned in any reviews of Alsyvox speakers?

Kinda echo Bobvin here: Caravaggio sounds fine off axis, but then you sit in the sweet seat and go, “oh, yeah…”. For me it’s more of a clarity thing than tonality.

That was in a show condition as well so who knows???

Academic why this design arrangement requires aggressive toe in , the tweeters are dead center on a very wide baffle , wider apart is best too …!

Congratulations, Bob and Joshua! I'm a big fan of Alsyvox panels (Bob, as you know, Marty L. has them with our electronics). Texas has larger homes, and the elegant Alsyvox panels should do very well with AC in Joshua's capable hands.
