Rob, what's the best vinyl for their early work, the album with Desparado, and Hotel California? I have the Hell Freezes over Tour on vinyl, and while it is very 'pizzazzy' sounding, i think it is a tad juiced up. Haven't listened it for a while for that reason. I know I have a bunch of old copies of individual albums but haven't sorted through them.

the DCC LP of hotel california mastered by steve hoffman is, imo the best vers to own. nimbus supercuts from the UK did a desparado thats oop and ive heard its the best one yet, i dont own it.

im a huge hoffman fan, all of his rock/pop remasters are usually the best of their kind. if he's got the best tape to work with watch out!

Got the first four Roxy Music albums today. The reissues. Ordered them back in September, when Popmarket had a special, and they arrived this evening.

Hi Bill - My local guy wants $100 for that Hell Freezes Over LP set. A bit much if you ask me, although I'm tempted since I'm a huge "live" fan.

Nice score Felix! What are the albums in question?

John, somebody is listing it sealed for 2k US dollars on ebay crazy- then again, i saw a brass antique ammeter worth about 6 dollars listed for 32 thousand US at one point. Is the copy your dealer has sealed?

Yes it is.

Here's another one of those LP's I've always wanted to get and just never got around to. I went to my local vinyl guy with the intent of picking up the Keb' Mo' MFSL pressing ( I have the SACD as well), and then found this Speaker's Corner release of:

SC releases can be somewhat hit/miss, but I've been lucky so far, so I went for it. Looking forward to giving this a spin later on.:D

Listened to it last night and again this morning. This is a very good effort from the folks at SC. The vinyl is extremely quiet and the detail is second to none. Don't expect a soundstage and imaging wonder, but do focus on the clarity and cleanliness of this recording. I don't know how it compares to the original or any other reissues (are there any?), but I'm sure digging this one!:D

Dave Brubeck Quartet/ Time Out
Shelby Lynne/ Just a Little Lovin'
Patricia Barber/ A Distortion Of Love

The more than two dozen Analogue Productions SACD's I own IMO are examples of great albums with wonderful sonics attributable to Chad Kassem's insistence on using original masters, and his production values. I'll continue adding this label to my music collection.

Hmmm, I don't have that particular LP of FNiS John but I do have the SACD. The imaging and sound stage are what I would consider top notch. I can tell exactly where each player is up on stage and the illusion of where they are strumming -vs- plucking with each respective player is very nice. Very clean recording and a great concert to boot.

I'll be giving it a few more spins over the days to come and will pay closer attention. Maybe I missed something on the first few passes. I'll let you know after I get more familiar with it.

Finally managed to find a copy of Alice In Chains - Unplugged

It's a Music on Vinyl release and I doubt it was mastered from the original tapes, but I'm looking forward to giving it a spin in the coming days.

Also picked up a copy of Sound City and Dead Can Dance-In Concert.

Even though the mastering is compressed, I'm getting all three Rush Sector boxes from HDtracks. $108 for 15 albums, 3 of them double albums, is a good deal and how I think hi-res music should be priced, so I'm supporting this.

These arrived today from Elusive disc. The Sarah MacLachlan - Mirrorball is back-ordered.

I won't have much time to give them a listen today or tomorrow, but it's a long weekend for us (Canada day - July 1) and I'm sure they'll get some time on the TT then.

Wow...not a vinyl guy, but I think 200grams is pretty serious weight. Congrats.

Picked this up yesterday and playing it now.

It's playing the background and sounds good already. Will give it a "proper" and "attentive" listen after dinner. Very quiet vinyl, perfectly centred and not a mark on it.

Blood on the Tracks is a great, great album. I have an early pressing with the full mural on the back, haven't listened to it in a while, but remember it sounding pretty good. Desire is also great, as is Planet Waves (though they sound drunk).
I just bought a reissue of the Louvin Bros 'Satan is Real' and have a dozen or so records that have arrived from various sources in the last week - unfortunately, the weather here is stormy, so I keep pulling the power to my system.
