If you one is to make a debut album, and if one is a violinist, what better way to make an entrance than by playing the incredibly challenging Sonatas for Solo Violin by Eugène Ysaÿe (1858–1931). And the young multi-award winning violinist Eduard Kollert delivers with excellence. For over 60-minutes, the music of Ysaÿe resounds joyfully, challengingly, resolutely, with technical brilliance, but also with great emotion and shifts in communicative content. He will be a violinist to watch as his career continues.

I saw she was on the west coast, but I don't think I'll be catching a flight to get to one of her venues.

Kurtág, Janáček, Martinů, Prokofiev–oh, my. All such short little works, but all so very nice. And all are very nicely played. The works play off of each other with delightful contrasts in style across the composers. The album concludes with a short, very delicate, composition by pianist Joseph Havlat that tops off the recital like the proverbial "cherry on top."

I am on the last disk of a 3 CD set of Bruch's music for violin and orchestra. It started life as a 4 LP set from Philips, but I have a reissue from the now defunct Music Heritage Society (what a lot of money they saved me over the years!).

Excellent sound quality, and Bruch was an inspired composer with strings - who doesn't thrill to the Kol Nidrei?

No apologies should be considered for highlighted these great British composers as represented on the typically outstanding Lyrita recordings. Wonderful music, imo, and typically excellent recording quality. I had most of the Lyrita catalog back in my vinyl collecting days, and loved them. One of my regrets today is no longer having these wonderful recordings in my digital music library.
