The Problem of reproducing large scale Orchestral music

This mainly depends on the (size of the) room. You could also replace the upper + lower 10" with 12" woofers, or use 4 x 12".

10" woofers are quite common.

The 'clean rolloff above 3kHz' isn't the main issue, beaming/cancellation/lobing are.
Every decent sounding OB/Dipole system with 15" woofers I know features a low(er) LP for the woofers (<800 Hz).
Anything under 1m baffle width (side wings then you get 30hz with full soundpressure) doesn't produce deep bass unless you fill it up with DSP and a lot of amplifier power.

Agree, in my speakers the 15 inch woofer cross at 1.2kHz to the CD, but it is a 1 inch (exit) one.
There aren't much 1 inch CDs which allow to cross below that if you like to play loud
I would not really go much below that with a 1 inch compression driver either. The one I use (Beyma CP350Ti) I cross at 1.8Khz. The 1.4 inch throat driver I use (Beyma CP750Ti) will go down no problem to 800Hz (it is a 3 inch diaphragm). Both will play ear bleed levels with 1 watt.

Glad it works for you, not for me, I like high energetic sound from 12 and 15" drivers e.g tone tubbys, acoustic elagence..beyma.
Listen this that will change your opion 102db/1watt active ripol 18" below 70hz

I have heard Bastanis...it doesn't change my opinion. I like them but not as much as my Honrnings, which are similar in that they have a crossoverless midrange, but they use a small 5 inch high sensitivity driver (Lowther huge 10kg magnet and whizzer removed) that has much better off-axis dispersion. I also much prefer Odeon Semper.

If you're looking for something comparable in the world of horns, there's no way around the sato horn. It works from 150hz - 5khz with the right drivers. The two 12" bastanis work from 70hz-5khz. The sato horn has a little more headroom thanks to its high sensitivity. What's important to me is that one driver seamlessly covers a large frequency range. Both systems produce an excellent, dynamic, thrilling sound. I don't know your hornings, the main thing is that you're happy

look them up...easy to do. The main driver covers <200Hz to 12Khz.

I am curious which 1 inch compression driver Odeon use in the Semper. Do you have any info?
Thanks
I don't know the brand. All I know is it is 38mm mylar ring radiator with Nd magnets...maybe BMS? If so, the BMS 4540 seems the likely candidate...

Clearly, they prefer the sound characteristics from the dome/horn over bringing the woofers up higher, which is also what I found out from my

This is an interesting topic; it's not a black-and-white issue, but rather a process of choosing between compromises (as with everything in audio).

Take, for example, the SCAN SPEAK - VIFA M21WG-09-08. This classic 8" woofer was an obvious choice for simple two-way speakers in the 80s and 90s and is still used in the Audio Note AN-K paired with their version of the famous D19 3/4" tweeter, with a crossover around 3 kHz.
It works, very well I'd say, but within certain limitations. Naturally, this speaker is not suitable for sustained high output levels; it's not the most resolving in the midrange, and its LF extension is limited to around 50 Hz.

Similar phenomena apply to the systems highlighted by DasguteOhr.
