The new audiophile vinyl series The Original Source from Deutsche Grammophon (AAA)

Still waiting. Parcelforce in the UK is a shambles tbh.
Parcelforce have now failed to deliver two major packages to me, incl this one.
£100 in customs fees, option on delivery date/time chosen.
One package it's sent straight back to sender.
This DG one is attempted delivery once, then sent straight back.
They're a frickin' disgrace, and £100 of my hard earnt for the privilege.

Mine arrived Tuesday. This was the fastest delivery I have had from them. They were not delayed in customs this time.

But, their packaging is still a joke. Fortunately, the box set arrived intact.

One quibble - if we ordered from the website and were first in line, why did I get such a high serial number (2833)?
The numbers on the jackets do not correspond in any way to the order in which the records were pressed, the logistics of keeping track of which record goes in which jacket would be nearly impossible. It's entirely possible you received the first (or early) pressing in a higher numbered jacket.

My understanding is the Acoustic Sounds and Music Matters did track the order and serial number with the jacket. But that is for much smaller quantities.

So not the case for these. Well, they do sound amazingly good.

Ah - I confess that I didn't know that. My apologies, I was under the impression that the serial matching thing was universal. You may very well be correct!

Well what do you know? An original instruments performance from Archiv will be released in the series! Pretty sure I have this one from its initial release. For whatever reason, many of the Archiv pressings sounded better to me than the DG pressings from that era.

Shipping notices are out for the Bach and Grieg. Hopefully, the DHL will be as efficient as they were with the Schoenberg box set.

Now about their packaging .... the boxes are chewed up by the time they reach the Seattle area.

Hard to believe...after a failed delivery from Parcelforce UK over three weeks ago, and tracking saying the package had been sent back to DG in Germany...it's arrived today!!!
I wish I could laugh, but I'm still getting over my heart attack.
One thing...the package is absolutely covered in stickers, like the suitcase of someone who's completed a round the world trip.

Just finished listening to the Bach and Grieg. DG knock it out of the park again. I'm amazed by every release so far.
Both LPs have this amazing bloom that really fills the room.
I've worked hard to make my system have sufficient fidelity to make the most of music and masterings like this, playing these LPs makes the effort totally worthwhile.

Oh no.... I'm sorry to hear that you had a heart attack! Will you be okay???
Wishing you to be well very soon!
Don
Um, I *was* joking.
Just my dry British humour re a totally unexpected surprise that made my heart skip a beat.

Mine arrived at the Seattle DHL depot early Monday morning. It was scheduled for delivery that day, but went nowhere. Maybe it had some sightseeing before getting stuck on a shelf.

The package arrived yesterday. I have no idea how it survived the trip unscathed. They taped the 2 records together in their factory box with the pull open back. No outer box, no packaging materials. Their packaging is abysmal considering the likes of Acoustic Sounds and even Amazon.

At least the DHL shipping has improved from two to three weeks down to about a week.

As for the records …. listening to the Bach now. Wow! What an incredible pressing. They could continue with the Archiv reissues and I would be happy. While I have many Archiv records, somehow I don’t have this Bach record.

The Bach is absolutely amazing, what a fantastic workout for the system.
Re these LPs arriving unscathed after a dispatch journey from Hell, we must both be blessed by the vinyl gods.

I'm sorry that your humor went right over my head.... but I'm glad that you are okay and it was just a joke :)
Best wishes,
Don
That's ok. I appreciate your concern. Of course, there are bigger problems than heart attacks in this hobby, namely the varying levels of insanity many of us display, lol.

Just listened to the Grieg.
This has got to have the sweetest piano tone I've heard off vinyl.
The guys at DG in charge of this remastering are absolute geniuses.
The whole series, but this Bach and Grieg stand out.
