The Messiaen is a great performance of an important work and a good recording. Enjoy!
It has some strange timbres in the two string instruments that originally I thought were a "fault" of the recording, but it's actually the way the instruments are played.
Hi 'SONDEKNZ',
I won't know how they play for some time as I need to clean them (my regime is a Keith Monks (KM) RCM pre and main clean using KM fluids and rinse with demineralized water then Ultrasonic Cleaning with just distilled water and the Kuzma Spinner, then KM RCM again for final rinse with demineralized water and vacuum drying before going into new anti-static sleeves) along with the other DG TOS batches (5, 6 & 7) I have bought and haven't had time to clean them yet
For the DG TOS batches I have cleaned, they all sound great, with no distortion, no warped records and very low surface noise (most of my listening currently through my TOTL Headphone System) in fact one of the best set of pressings as a series I currently own !
Yes, agree. I have concluded some time ago that purchasing records is a very hit and miss affair regarding manufacturing quality, sound quality etc. At times, it can be very frustrating and expensive !
Yes, 'spiritofmusic', so so annoying for us people residing in the UK that we have to pay this 20% added VAT TWICE from some countries....the DG TOS records being an example ! And all because of BREXIT ;-(

That's quite a protocol! With only good intent I'll ask why not on your last step use the KM for vacuum drying only without a rinse. With a rinse I speculate you rinse each side and then dry each side. Based on owning a Loricraft, any liquid can easily get on both sides, plus reduced physical handling. Apologies for going off topic -- can continue in other thread or PM if you prefer. Good thing to clean new records!

Hi 'tima',
Yes as far as I am concerned it's a must to clean all records I haven't cleaned myself ! Some records I receive (even brand new ones) are terribly dirty (I can hear everything the stylus picks up with my headphone system, so having super clean records is a must have for me !).
Going to send you a PM shortly on the record cleaning topic .

They're raving about this particular choice of titles over at the Steve Hoffman Forum.
Seems they're much loved and a historic landmark series of recordings.
I've yet to be anything less than hugely impressed by the whole series so far, seems like these new additions should keep this winning streak going strong.
