Really. I find Fremer one of the few reviewers that likes speed, attack, tone and dynamics and listens to modern music a well as classics.

Lot's of reviewers comment on those attributes, though in the case of 'speed' and 'attack' they may use different words.

that is true Tim, but they mean different things in classical to rock for example.

It's based on the Technic SP-10R direct drive mechanism and most probably the new Minus-K ultra-thin CT-2 passive anti-vibration platform.

The latter is very good. A friend of mine has purchased one for his Micro Seiki 8000 turntable recently.

However the price of a CT-2 is just a few percents of the cost of the SAT turntable.

The passive vacuum platter sounds like a complete PITA that VPI would dream up, not something that adds 38,000 Euro to the price and ease of use.

Why was there no comparison between non vacuum and vacuum sound of the SAT?

Surely this table deserved a full review from Fremer.

@Tango - are you getting one? comparisons to what you have now would be wonderful.

Wow! Michael sure does love it!

I think that is Michael's most enthusiastic, most unequivocally rave review in quite some time!

I thought it was a very well-researched, very well-written and very communicative comparative review.

thanks Ked. maybe Fremer answers my questions on vacuum/non vacuum. I will have to have a read of it.

He describes how to use the vacuum but not what happens to the sound with vacuum on vs off
