For a very well balanced piano sound and fantastic peformance go back to this now inexpensive 1974 recording engineered by Tryggvi Tryggvason in the Decca Studio no 3

"Albeniz: Iberia" performed by Alicia de Larrocha. It is one of the recordings that sometimes can make me believe I am facing a piano and a pianist!

A young Murray Perahia playing with the Academy of St. Martins in the Fields (ASMF).


I saw him playing Beet's V with ASMF at Davies Hall in San Francisco. He was also conducting.

Ya gotta buy the cd...This video is compressed so much it masks the nuances.

Is Perahia the best that ever was? Or just the best still living? :)

Excellent Gary. Those two videos show two things. You don't have to play fast to produce a good composition and good music can be enjoyed over a Dell studio XPS laptop.
