Measurement Thread: Measured Effect of Speaker Isolators

Amir Ethans' return is a surprise and a q disappointment. What is not a surprise was that he was reinstated over my objection.
Clearly I had no say in the matter. My reference to Blizzard was tongue in cheek.
What is disturbing is that being banned does mean anything for at least one person. Ethan I heard he was banned for multiple violations of TOS.
Why don't we be fair? Let's extend that policy plicy to everyone. Violate the tos. A permanent ban means nothing. If anyone complains or is offended, stick your head in the sand if you cant ,I'll shove it in for you.

Greg, what about rehabilitation, re-invigoration, re-assimilation, relocation, rejuvenation, social reintegration after time well served while incarcerated (banned)?

As a mature/evolved society it's us who decide to make criminals more criminals, innocents > criminals, or to invest in their rehabilitation.
What if it was you who was in jail and with good intentions to reintegrate the "normal" free society?
If you were condemned to ten years in jail for rape, murdering, bank robbing...how many years should you spend locked up for breaking the TOS of an audio forum (by pure mistake - non-intended - circumstantial honest passionate audio hobby)?

It amuses me to see the hardship in the heart of few. ...Where is the compassionate spirit and heart of the audio matters?

The true criminals in audio forums...who are truly they? Us the music listeners and lovers of higher listening experience?
The dedicated students and learners and teachers of the audio art mastering in acoustics?

We all have made mistakes, we all have been banned, we all have been hated by some for our ideas, philosophies, beliefs...
We all have been persecuted in over-exaggerated ways. We all are biased more or less by our up-life bringing and learning.

We all make some typos, we all are occasionally not expressing ourselves 100% correctly. We all learn from our mistakes...we all deserve to practice our higher learning with humility, respect, intelligence, maturity, adulthood, human advancement...

It's not like we're hanging with child molesters and pornography avocados...of course not, we're inside an audio/video forum...of all matters that extend over the fields of life...the best of everything...music/films and art all jazz. And the first best starts with us. We disagree with someone's ideas...fine; we still have respect.

The thing is that we often discuss the poster and not the post content, and we don't let go. That's the problem; remove the personal conflicts and concentrate on the subject matter with full objectivity and 'constructivism' in a beneficial/positive outlook...higher learning advancement. Discussions that are lively and passionate are part of the kingdom of liberation.

We moderate ourselves intelligently...moving forward. We listen to everyone on what they have to say...democratically.
We don't reassemble like wolf packs attacking one svelte zebra. ...Way of speech. We are not just animals, we are the human race...with brain @ the top/behind our heads. We only use one tenth of it; let's use the full 10/10.

* Did you see the movie 'Lucy' directed by Luc Besson and starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman?

One could argue Ethans' initial presence on this forum (which I opposed ) was one of many second chances he has received. The sine qua non of rehabilitation is confession and a promise to sin no more. I am in the business of second chances.
Sorry my eye appointment was today and my vision is limited

We'll forgive your limited vision. I will welcome Ethan on the sub-forum.

I sense double entendre. He has a loyal following. But then so does Rush Limbaugh. I think they are called "ditto heads."

I am compelled to quote your signature:

I know you ultimately mean well Greg; try eye laser therapy...quite amazing the scientific visual advancement in that department in the last 5-10 years.

Greg, did you know that the word "civilization" comes from the ancient Rome which in Roman/Greek Latin language was derived from "syphilis" and "nation"? ;-)

Is there some reason all this sniping and personal bickering must be public? Why not rip it all out of this thread and take it to PM? Or whatever... I am blessed to work with a good team of moderators on another forum, more musically-oriented but certainly as passionate. We do not always agree, and a couple have come and gone (by choice or not), but we have had a stable core team for over a decade now and the forum is still going strong. Nothing's perfect, certainly I am not nor our team, but any disagreements we have are made in private and we are grown up enough to accept our differences and move on. All the personal stuff would have been ripped out of this thread long ago. i realize I am preaching like a sanctimonious jerk but I really hate to see this.

As usual Amir you are late pulling the trigger.

I wanted to say this about Ethan. At the time he came here he already jad been banned f?om the Stereophile forum. He was given free reign here.
He was completely unrepetent. In fact when the editor of Stereophile came here he took that opportunity not to apologoze but to challenge being barred. Whether you agree with him or not, or if you think his potentially borish behavior is worth it. He has remained consistent across the Internet.

You need to get out mo?e.

Could you be more helpful in your reply. I don't know why he was banned by S-phile either. I have seen him banned on about 3 other forums and did not once think it was justified.

I could but I choose not to. You can read it yourself.
Banning is a severe remedy. The king has ruled.

No you are saying the right things Don. I should delete all the posts as you say. It is just that I made a promise to our senior membership to not do that as the case was made that members are adults and should be treated as such. Well, I am not seeing that adult behavior where a discussion about vibrations under a speaker is left to be about that. So I am reconsidering my decision....

what was the cause of the spat with JA?

It' s documented on the Stereophile website. Ethan refused to conform to our posting rules, specifically our request that industry posters include their affiliation. Doesn't mean that we don't still recommend his RealTraps products or that Ethan and I don't have a cordial relationship.

On the subject at head, you can find my measurements on the effect of various couplings between a loudspeaker and its stand at http://www.stereophile.com/features/806/index.html . The differences on a cabinet's vibrational behavior can be extreme but it is very difficult to predict what the effect on the speaker's sound quality will be.

This is the measurements area and is now full of subjective views on posters , unless we are measuring personalities let's delete all this to preserve the integrity of this area and keep it as a coherent resource... Please:)

Polish your crown and get to it;)

Subjective means without proof. I have plenty of proof.
A separate thread might have been appropriate but that would invite even more piling on. That was not my intent.
