Many years ago, when Jonathan Scull still worked for Stereophile, he wrote a very negative review ("no magic") of the Gryphon DM100 amplifier (the ancestor of the Antileon), as a result of which Gryphon withdrew from the American market for many years ......

You maybe right as I remember the Gryphon sound was on the dark side years ago. This is not the case anymore, just like Krell's sound has changed over the years.

IME I would put the Gryphon sound a few clicks toward the warmer side of neutral. Great amps for sure.

The full class A sound definitely has a "sweetness" or warmth to it. Of course, my personal tastes run on the warmer side of neutral. Personally, the super analytical sound is enticing at a demo or even for a short while but I quickly grow tired of it. YMMV.
