“I would like to investigate a cheaper alternative to that Audionet combination with the Lampi….”
Yes by listening. I will visit many to find the 242 combo that does similar

Hypothetical systems...
Did you read the original post? o_O

"So, on this thread, can Lampi GG & Pac owners simply list their downstream electronics without any comment?"

Lampi Pac ( KR242) ==> Viva Solista
Lampi Pac ( KR242) ==> Viva Linea==> Soulution 711
Lampi Pac ( KR242) ==> Bespoke ==> Soulution 711
Lampi Pac ( KR242) ==> Soulution 725 ( too much gain if no VC however) ==> Soulution 711
Curious if your PAC has the volume control option, and if so, whether you have tried running your 711 straight from the DAC, with no preamp?

Wow. I love both the Lampi KR 242 and the viva headamp. The egoista is the one with 2a3 right?

I have Pac w/ preamp (soon to be Horixon) > AVM MA 8.3 monos. AVM is a great company, mostly known for their all-in-one products, which is why I think so few people here in WBF talk about their flagship products, but IMHO this is a mistake. These monos are killer and real giant slayers since they are cheaper than a lot of the big boys. Do some comparative listening if you get the chance.

I’m discovering the joys of listening to a single driver Altec 755-C cone speaker with my Lampi Pacific. One driver, no crossover, high efficiency. Having owned megabuck speakers all my life for 30+ years, next to my Quad 57s, I can say without any reservation that this speaker Is absolutely the best dynamic cone moving coil speaker I have owned. It cannot be beat for midrange quality, and the sheer simplicity and coherence of a single driver to produce all frequencies. No, it does not go down below 40 hz or so, or above 15 kHZ or so. I’m a male in my early 60s, so what do I care if the bats are not terrified each time I play music or my speakers don‘t boom like a car stereo. Since it’s high efficiency, 5 watts from my Cary SET is plenty to drive them loud. No metallic tweeter sizzle as there is no tweeter. No issue with time alignment as there is only one driver. Next to Quads, this is the best speaker you can get, but you can only buy it used. No surprise the Western Electric 755 cones sell for 6 grand on eBay. Once you hear this driver, the rest sounds like incoherent garbled mess, even my Harbeth Monitor 40.1s are no comparison. Too bad no one makes a single driver that matches the Western Electric or Altec 755s anymore. They were designed in Bell Telephone Laboratories in the 1950s. Guess the Bell lab scientists knew what they were doing. They invented the transistor after all.
