KeithR's "Dream Speaker" Search

It is great that you have such a huge budget. ou can either call a dealer and get an expensive speaker installed or hire a bespoke guy to tune a good horn for you at much lower. With the first option you can announce here "big speaker in Da house" gives a thrill for next months and many will like the pictures and congratulate but then you have to think of what next

Huge budget? Ha! - that's news to me - I have a family and a house.

Don't be so tacky.

Sorry I misread that 100k was your budget.

Either way, in very few cases that budget will beat commercial horns. It will if the owner gets everything spot on, but if that much effort is to be put in I would rather go the custom build route. Outcome is more certain, cheaper, and better. Plus all components have good resale if required

Do the Devore O's sound like dogs on SS?

They might sound good with first watt, who knows? Never heard. They sound very average with push pull compared to the 10w amps I mentioned. I would love to hear them with Berning quadrature

Back to the original topic for a moment: Keith, are you upgrading (or have you already) your speakers to the "i" version?

How will the Fynes fit in?

Yes curious about the comparison as well. My guess is Hailey will prevail

If so, then they would need different amps to be a fair comparison.
you bring up a good question on amps for the F1s and I'm planning to stick with SS. I will have the Zillas (Class A 10-15 watts) and Luxman m900 first (perhaps my favorite amp on the YG if it had enough power). FirstWatt SIT-3 and Dart 108 will also be available to try from friends. Shouldn't be difficult.

I had an opportunity to pick up a Gryphon Essence during the distributor switch but declined. The 47 Labs Fudou would be an esoteric choice I still might consider.

From what I've heard, the Fynes aren't picky with amps.

Looks like I will be attending the Long Beach audio show in two weeks - I will be sure to report back on two interesting speakers. The Stenheim Reference 2 is making its debut and the Alsyvox Caravaggio will be at the SoCal show for the first time. Thrax is also going to be exhibiting and was my best in show two years ago.

So, are the YGs gone now? Are the Fynes your new speakers?
