Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
Bruce: If I were only allowed to purchase 5 CD's from the HD Tracks Jazz Library, which ones would you recommend for both performance and sound quality.

I love Jazz and want to investigate how much better 24/xx recordings are than their 16/44 counterparts that will be played from my music server.

Thanks (I may have asked this before but could not find my post!)

Several of the Concord Jazz files are great. The sampler is good. Ray Brown - Live at Loa is good.

I'd also try the Verve label... Ellington/Hodges is good. Getz/Gilberto, Oscar Peterson and Jimmy Smith are good as well.

Thanks:

Are these recommendations made from analog master tapes, hi-rez digital master tapes or 16/44 and up-sampled to 24/XXX?

I ask because I have been told (correctly or otherwise0 that quite a few of the hi-rez recording are nothing but up-sampled original recordings.
