I talked to a gentleman today that goes out and hears people's systems and tunes them for optimal performance. He brings over different cables, Isolation platforms, acoustic damping, power conditioners, power cords, etc, etc. I told him I thought that was a great Idea and I was surprised other dealers didn't do it. He said that most dealers were lazy and weren't willing to Invest the time.He said he stays busy 6 days a week doing this and that you can't stay at your showroom waiting for customers to come by. I'm going to have him come by sometime in January and see what he comes up with.

I'd be more willing to accommodate him if he had a different toolkit.

I inquired with a few respectable names (some from the Home Theater world, other from the pro-studio design world) about coming down to my optimize my room, mostly through speaker placement and custom setting, may be acoustical treatment, and setting in my Trinnov. No one seemed to be particularly interested to come down for a fee. May be they prefer to do bigger projects that involve selling hardware, or from the ground up design services.

This is what Jim Smith does- more about proper set up than adding conditioners, etc.

Yeah I usuaully throw them out. Physician heal thyself.:b

Bob Hodas did mine and Winston's rooms. Well worth it!

The only diffusers I have are RPG diffractals on the back walls.

Damn , in the old days they used to do it for beer and burgers ....:)

We still do but sometimes it's tapas and wine or dimsum and tea or pizza and rootbeer. :)

Order a flagship product and I'll bring a whole roast calf and a couple of Kegs! LOL!

One of the ironies, guys spend boo hoo money for consultants and custom built rooms, then don't like them. Ultimately and unfortunately, throwing money at a problem is no substitute for sweat equity performed with experimenting over time to personal taste and tendencies. If you move and get a new room, you get to do it all over again.

Speaker placement, seating location and room treatment are WAY more important than what he brings. I agree with Kal.

Does he also bring amp, preamps, speakers, and source?;)
