New listening seat ( absorbent )and i added large absorption panels in the corners just off the wall .
The room was too lively, plus i repositioned the speakers.
And i added a small berber carpet from maroc in front of the speakers

I thought id make a vid playing the same music through my system .

If i would change / upgrade it probably would be Gryphon Apex or Robert Koda

20230328_185231.jpg All the parts have arrived for the smaller cheaper model.
Eton 8 inch for the bass and paper for the mids as usual.
But different more sophisticated drive systems
Which will result in a small affordable 3 way , probably a closed system/ easy to place
The papermid membrane is made of egyptian papyrus according to the manufacturer , whether it actually sounds better has to be heard

Next up testing of midranges.
I ve got almost a small factory now . :)
Im testing one nomex kevlar membrane and 3 paper mids varying from 160 to 800 euro a piece.
This is the fun part .
I have listened to an enourmous amount of drivers / speakersystems over the past 2 years and although carbon fiber / hard membranes sound very articulate and clean , i love slightly forgiving /absorbing paper ( The British sound ??)
I ll also test membranes which have a foam surround / flatter response and dont have the typical 2-3 db dip due to the rubber surround resonance in the 1-2 khz area
Also i like to hear if the elliptical voice coil results in sonic benefits / better transient response or not.
It should for the price .
Plus i m gonna experiment with larger membranes and a lower X over point ranging from a 6 inch currently to 6,5 , 7 and 8 inch .
Midranges are the heart of a speaker

New basic ( low cost) design , 3 way closed system in miter ( CNC machined )
Unfinshed , it will get high gloss piano laquer
Made of HPL which is layers of Kraft paper drenched in phenolic resin then heated / pressurized.
Paper damps resonances extremely well

My new design playing music
Testing with a first order series x over on 20 watt solid state
No problemo.
3 way closed system for small / medium sized rooms.
This has the natural HPL finish not high gloss spray painted .
Top notch units from Eton and scanspeak .
This model is much cheaper to produce due to reduced wall thickness 40 mm to 13 mm.
No machined bass reflex pipe , no expensive caps like duelund / mundorf , entry level finite element cerapuc feet.

Angled internal walls to diffuse the back wave

The dirty work .
+ - 2 ,5 db over the 300 hz - 8 khz range 1 / 6 octave smoothfactor
You can never make filter adjustments by ear and achieve these FR results .
Not even golden ears.

Ps around 35 hz - 3db is what i m getting max out of these.

@andromedaaudio
Do you have any plans to release a two-way speaker with series X over?
Thx

Matt

Hi
Not really at the moment
may be in the future
I first wanna see how this model develops .
This seems like the most economical viable solution to me .
You get quit a lot of bass impact / extension with this design but with a easy to place /small footprint.

Ps why would it have to be a 2 way ??

Can you advise on what measuring system you are currently using ..?
