My wife and I collect 50's midcentery furniture. She saw a pair of 901's in an old add with a Herman Miller Eames chair and said "I want those for the TV room!"

Excellent midrange, but that's all you get!

I also owned Maggies 1.6 and 3.6....and I loved them. Couldn't get my wife to go for them in our living room unfortunately

Hah the EQ doesn't really do much. Great for TV watching and the classical music station my wife likes to listen too.

This is "What's Best" in midcentury industrial design and not sound.

And yes, every time I see a pair of part-exchange 901 mk6's at my usual dealer I have to repeat to myself ten times - No, I am not going to buy them ...

These are not Bose pedestals. They are listening stations. You put your head inside to listen while the speakers play. And there are 2 options. The top hole is better sounding because you are closer to the source. The bottom hole brings your head closer to your butt. You can figure out the next step.

Wow, they still made them through 2016. In the olden days, my cousin thought he had stereo bragging rights with the original models. Bose had his marketing hype in full swing even then. My cousin was dogged with them, even though the speaker elements (cheap) blew out frequently and he wrecked a few amps with them. I pissed him off by laughing at him about them.

I imagine the subsequent models became more reliable.

These are in the great room and are listened to by my wife. They really throw out a strange but entertaining "sound stage" due to the direct reflecting technology. She loves them with the light classical music she listens to.
