Thanks. Quite a few options. Anyone try the carbon one? Or is the 'strad' the one :)

No didn’t try the carbon one. Really wouldn’t advocate carbon either - highly likely to produce a synthetic / grey signature as my graphite one…

When is the brazilian rosewood arriving?

Hi Chet,

I don’t think he has any and didn’t seem to be open to get other timber in. I requested a Lignum one but he didn’t have any nor offer to get it.

I have tested Brazilian rosewood for audio purposes when doing clamp builds. It is the most harmonically full and rich out of everything I tested. It would be suitable if your system was laser fast and perhaps little forward and without body - would be the perfect antidote.

i wonder what engelmann spruce would sound like...its supposed to be one of the best tonewoods for guitar tops

I would think that it might generate too much colour of its own as a guess. Spruce is used for violins and cellos too due to its resonance properties. It is very live indeed.

Just installed my Dava cartridge in my Yamaha GT2000 a few days ago even though I got it a few months back. As I was trying it out used the same step up device which is a DIY current amlifier based in Richard lees design. The jump in overall music quality over my Koetsu rosewood is just amazing! Will get the step TXRs next in a proper manner as my rough check resulted in Hum.
Presume the cartridge requires some run in.

Yes needs some running in - not massively long but the treble evens out. Once grounded correctly it is utterly silent. Leif’s system is 112dB+ and silent as a mouse.

Neutrik Powercon from intelligent Lithium battery charger
Black Gate N 4.700µF/35vdc x2 in Super E config
other end of box 2 switchable outputs for mono and stereo DaVa and voltage meter, which has it´s own touch power off function in display
3w 50R Violet filament pot for voltage adjustment
guess I´ll finish it tomorrow
retirement is a blessing for getting things done :D

Today the cigar box has been in duty for some hours.
Totally noisefree and with increased transparency and harmonics
Guess going from tin to some exotic wood didn't hurt
Also the improved filtering and nice multistrand 1Kv copper wire from my GM70 project is partly to "blame"
And as a bonus the looks makes me happy
