DaVa FC-A1 a field coil contender

Perhaps I should do the same. Have my mono in a Reed-arm with the same smallish headshell. Need to check temperature once I have a chance to test it.

Well, maybe not needed after all. Darius just sent me a message saying that the mono carts are less sensitive to heat and the mono wont be played all the time so I guess I’m fine. :D

So I have started trying to increase vtf slowly and find that I like it best at 2.8gr. It is now weightier, better bass and sound even more natural.

You're right! The tracking force specified by the manufacturer isn't strictly defined. In reality, it depends on the tonearm and resonant frequency combined, and is generally a tuning factor. This applies to all cartridges. Furthermore, historically, audiophiles are concerned about the safety of their records, so manufacturers tend to understate this specification (specifying the lower limit). In my experience, for most cartridges from different manufacturers, the optimum is the upper limit specified +10%.
