Basic Treatment Question

I know it is "standard" to treat, at a minimum, the points of first reflection and bass control. Why is it also common to see treatments on the front ball between the 2 speakers? Does a lot of sound reflect off of there?

In my main room I have a projection screen behind and in between the speakers so either that serves as an acoustic treatment or there was nothing else that could be done.

FWIW, I've just reintroduced treatments into my room, and I can easily perceive differences in grouping three absorption panels together about the midline on front wall, and spreading them out.

I'm now looking at getting five panels in total, to pretty much cover the whole front wall, in addition to corner traps.

I have a 4.5 foot wide (almost 1.5 meter) area on the wall that I would like to treat. I have been speaking to a guy at GIK acoustics and he is recommending the 6A Alphas.

Those are the ones I'm going for as well, either three or five across the front wall. I don't think you can go wrong w this in that 4.5' space you mention. The only argument might be to instead go for a pure diffusor, like the GIK Gotham Quadratic.

Cool! The guy there recommended the absorber so I think that's what I will go with.

I also have to think about the back of the room which has a pair of sliding closet doors. The room is only 13 feet (4 meters) so there is definitely some reflection off of there. I may have to put something on stands.

I have the joy of a custom built room, no more doorways or windows in the wrong places LOL.

D, re-introducing my GIKs has been a revelation, esp now I've hit upon three panels spread out on the front wall.

I think I'm going to add a couple of Quadratic Diffusors as well.

I'm getting the most amazing sense of ease and transparency.

The room itself is a virtue, but finding ways to eliminate the room further is really starting to make sense to me.
