I have been a long time lurker but only occasional poster around these parts of the audiophile interwebs. But as my audiophile journey has progressed, specially in the last 5 or so years, I have found myself getting more and more value from this forum specifically, with its meaningful discussion of higher end gear. I thought I would use this system post as something of a reintroduction here. I am in Austin TX.

Speakers: Evolution Acoustics MM2
Amplifier: Soulnote A-3
DAC: Chord M Scaler and Dave
Source: Sonore ultraRendu
Power regeneration: PS Audio P15
Speaker cables: Iconoclast Gen1 OFE
Interconnect: Iconoclast OCC Gen2 RCAs
Power cables: Iconoclast 12 and 10 Gauge
Misc: Ecoflow Delta 3 Plus and Audiowise Opto-dx. These allow me to keep the ultraRendu and M Scaler not just hidden behind one of my bass walls, but also to keep them completely electrically isolated from the rig while listening.

I take a very function over form view of treating my space. The tldr is that I had some serious bass issues upon moving into this house, and rather than mess around, I bought these batts of insulation to stack in several of the corners. rather than repeat it all here, if you want to read more about my room treatment journey as it is, there is a thread over here where I went into a lot more detail as it evolved. I also have an attachment to cinderblocks and enjoy using them for all sorts of things, including my cable risers. I have copious floor and ceiling treatment as well as lots of QRD diffusors on the front and side walls.

Hi Soup,

So your room is not over damped with all those sound absorbers or do the diffusors liven things up? And curious. Why not use an area rug between your speakers and the chair? Are you happy with the room aesthetics? A truly unique listening space.

I dont find the room to be over damped. I think it helps that the bass traps aren't broadband since the plastic is still on the insulation. The size and all the diffusion certainly help as well, the stage I can get in here is massive, you really need to hear it to believe it. Rugs are better than nothing, but dont do all that much acoustically compared to the panels I have on my ceiling and floor. The floor panels I find with these speakers to be very necessary to get good bass impact, my guess is that the mids playing so low on the MM2 and being so high up, the floor bounce is well within their pass band, so it needs to be treated, its only in the last week or so that I made the floor treatment 2 panels thick instead of one, which is what helped the bass so much.

I am pretty happy with the aesthetics, the utilitarian look appeals to me. I will in the future be replacing at least the double wide bass wall on the left with a similar wall but made out of the same Caruso Iso Bond panels I have on the ceiling and floor. It will be a significantly better bass trap as well as standing out less cause they will be white. I also hope that this change will let me add two more QRDs to the front wall to have 4 across. currently there isn't enough space to have 4 and still have them be appropriately centered in the room, and with them offset 6-8inches I thought the sound was a bit wonky, leaving me with the current arrangement of 2 and some absorption between.

As for a wife, I dont have one of them yet, so I can still get away with anything.

Welcome to the posting side, Soup!

The cloud traps should do a lot more than a rub.
And excluding the modern era, where people spend more time indoors, we are more trained to deal with a ground bounce.

If we knew the speaker’s radiation pattern , then we coud make better sense of where the absorbers should be going.

You’re not wrong.

it's different ...........
So diplomatic. You're just too tradtional / old school and don't appreciate modern industrial mid century contemporary boho interior design. By the by, have reached out and will be talking to Joey V. He asked about you. Hope all is well with you and family my friend. Gordon
