I am still weakly employing AM V1 and once you figure this all out I can then tap your knowledge. Appreciate your efforts and I am trying to keep up (failing a little)

Anytime, friend. I’m by no means as adept as some of the folks on this thread, but for all my griping and (at the moment) looking a bit like an idiot ;), I actually do know a bit about what I’m doing.

I use V1 software and V1 records, seems like the software is missing the 500hz peak
Is there a chance you could try this Vibration test with v2 software and record?

Tony22 I appreciate your support. I have been doing pretty well employing AM V1 successfully but you are drilling down to a more enlightened level. I have many test records collected over many years but have not used any of them combined with the AM software.

Hey, it’s a group effort! :D We’re all here to help each other.

I emailed Richard Mak about the v2 oddness. I’ll let you know what he says.

But still, some of what started all this was seeing no distortion number changes for changing of VTA. NONE. ZERO (at least to the first decimal place). And this is with v1 or v2.
If you wish I can run your recording of a track in my V1 V2 and separate script . 135% IMD is just plain wrong. 15% can occur. . If I use the ART phono plus AnalogMagik freezes a lot, not the case with other interfaces.

Yes, please do. Thank you. I used to use the ART but I didn’t like that as I adjusted its gain the Right and Left channel balance would change. Not by much, granted, but I still didn’t like it. Are you using the Puffin? I now normally use a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB, but I think I was able to finally get everything configured correctly in my Waxwing and may use that. But before I can make that my regular choice I’ll have to buy either a longer optical cable or a USB extension.

My main set up use the Parks Audio Puffin, optical out both for listening and recording to PC or AnalogMagin, on Michell Gyro SE/SME V or a Denon 51F.

For more comfortable workbench testing/experimenting - with a Fisher 6330- I use Cambridge CP2+ ART Phonoplus, but found that using Tascam 144Mk2 Audio interface instead prevents AnalogMagik to freeze/stall. Using Puffin also limits AnalogMagic freezing.

By using the Tascam looped with PC I can run recorded test tracks into AnalogMagik software, and analyse and re-analyse any time. That is how I intend to study your files.

You may share your file with me in PM using Google drive/Dropbox or something..

OPPS wrong thread do not know how to move it.
A bit cooler in the living room this morrning but my Michell Gyro belt drive likes it at 19C..... the best speed stability I ever had...
The deviation from absolute speed is OK, - shaknspin is not calibrated , and groove drag slowes it down too, so when in groove the speed is 33.333

Did not know where else to brag about it so I put it here

Without the Shaknspin I could not have achieved this. it makes it possible to consistently see the effects of fine tuning the setup.
Shaknspin is a essential tool to adjust for levels of motor and platter and belt tension

Richard and I had a series of emails about this. It's a bit of a head scratcher for him. He said he'll look into it, but it may take a bit of time. In the meantime I'll stick with AM v1.

"OPPS wrong thread do not know how to move it."

If you did before and after Analogmagik measurements using your Shaknspin to improve your setup that would be scientific and educational for Analogmagik users.

I may have some data on that,But it has been a pain to get everything perfect so I am not reversing the changes to document it now. What is useful for AM users to know is that the w@f value can jump from 0.05 to 0.1 simply by how the record is placed in the platter, pushed north or south for instance. My V2 records were warped and got 0.2 AM value which is a horrible result. The best I get is 0.045. I returned he v2 records ang got a better set. What is can say is that with my belt drive is that changing the platter groove used( Michell gyro has 3 groove platter) may double og half the 2S wow.. that is the same effect as different centring
of the test record can do. if I centre the record in the same manner , push it north for instance I get repeatable results.. but the belt drive will drift and vary more than a DD which stay the same.

If you use a phone app and place the phone without disturbing the balance ( potential problem on suspended TT) you can get a good impression of the stability, but phone may be off on absolute speed.

That can work just as well as a Shaknspin to improve setups.

Take a look here it may be useful

The best I can get is this. on A B&K record on DD drive, note NAK T-100 value is RMS, not DIN peak
NAK T-100 i really useful to see the effect of record centering in the plot

With Analog magic record and belt drive: the best I get is this AM V2 record, DIN peak W&F on Both

I would hope that anyone using AnalogMagik would be doing their best to center their records before their testing runs. You can hear the difference while playing music if its really bad, and you can see the difference in testing runs between best centered and off centered testing records.
Now that you are happy with the W&F of your Oracle set up, it would be nice if you posted a full set of measurements using AnalogMagik only, for discussion. I would do the same with my system, but alas my turntable is apart (Technics SL-10) because the previous owner used heavy grease on the bearing slides and it is no longer functioning.
This would generate some good AnalogMagik discussion.
