Simple. Just replace the fashionable VIP/Donor, Well-Known Member, Founder Member, Industry Expert, New Member by Dealer, Manufacturer, Designer, Distributor or appropriate.

Just give the dealer who doesnt disclose his affiliation a fine .
Fom the proceeds we can do a lottery , the dealer in question has to provide the bonus prize on top of that.

I suppose that is similar to having a manufacture supply discounts, advertising, or free gear.
There are also influencers looking for a pay out from manufacturers and dealers.

How is ^all that^ talk about fines any different?

Okay, but tough to be in the forum if you don't read or do not pay attention. Something other than a word requires associative memory and or a guide to what each color represents. Have color if you want but also have a word. The role the word/color represents should be an active position with tangible bona fides.

An industry expert is someone working in high-end but possibly has no clue about high-end sound or does know what high-end sound is but sells expensive mid-fi gear coz it pays the bills.

Unfortunately, colors, font changes and icons won't help people participating in this site that are visually impaired/blind.

They also don't solve the problem for the sighted for the reasons stated above (colors are ambiguous, fonts are generally overridden by browser font choices, etc)

Signatures don't do it IMHO as they are not visible when viewing from a browser on a mobile device.

I would suggest explicit labeling right below the avatar.

Indeed, some are manufacturers and dealers who come on here to promote and influence. And some are just hobbyists who come here to discuss this fascinating hobby.

Very true. What makes it worse is if when going to sell said products, the manufacturer and dealer claim they are "prototypes" to sabotage the sale without having informed you of that reality. Shady stuff.

I know that this site loves to beat dead horses over and over to keep checking are they dead .

The simple way to do this is differentiate clearly civilians form the enlisted ( industry). I am not trying to be insensitive but wouldn't the visibly impaired be using some method other than what we are now?

Either change colors that is natures way of telling you to watch out
Change type faces
put industry warning signs
have Kamala explain via video
Have American Eagle make a commercial
Maybe Taylor Swift can write a song about it
Let the View discuss it

Do you think that WBF has played a part in the issues you have pointed out?
Personally I think we all have played a role in the market as it currently exists. All parties are involved and share part of the result.

It certainly appears that way. Other forums tend to view WBF with a jaundiced eye due to industry experts playing the role of good audio samaritan along with other stealth influencers/reviewers driven by special accommodations. There are several brands that come to mind that were birthed using that paradigm.
