Great review Tim. I especially like the contrast between the ARC preamp and the Lamm. There are trade offs and either could satisfy most audiophiles. For me, the relaxed (dare I say natural) sound of the Lamm makes for hours of enjoyable and non-fatiguing listening.

Here is my somewhat lengthy review of the Lamm LP2.1 Deluxe phonostage at Positive Feedback.

Published today, this was written Dec 2019 - March 2020.

Comments welcome.

Good work Tim. Nice to read about one of my favorite recordings that I have often referred in WBF, the Shostakovitch 5th direct by Haitink, although I prefer the direct digital version! ;)

Ha...Mulder was the dreamy tubes/vinyl man, Scully the rationalist digiphile/SS amps.
Or maybe Mulder naively dreamt that streaming and SS could somehow get close to vinyl and tubes, Scully hard headed enough to tell him he was misled...as misled in believing in Little Green Men.

I fixed the picture to make if more relevant for audio. Although I know relevancy has never been your goal Marc......

Jeffrey, the whole of our hobby is irrelevant once we go onto the lexicon of audiophile terms. That's relevant, surely?

Excellently written and well thought out. Thank you!
Already looking forward to your impressions from the LP1 Signature.

Why did you choose to use the stock power cords for your review?

Thanks Tim, very much enjoyed reading this and I especially appreciated the way that you described the music in your listening, all the great care comes through.

Sometimes reviewers seem to race through that mandatory part of talking about the reference music in the review almost like it’s a troublesome tick box and that the music itself is just a means to an end. You bring both the sonic experience and the music to light. Nice.

What a beautifully written and communicative review, Tim! I love how you weave your technical knowledge of music into the descriptions of the sound -- so professional!

Congratulations!

Allow me to express my thanks to you who liked my review or got something from it or read it. As my on-line community of choice it means a lot to me to hear from each of you.

I found the Lamm LP2.1 is a little sweetheart of a phonostage. It will make a great introduction to the Lamm sound for any system.

Thank you, I appreciate your taking the time to comment.

This may be a simplistic answer to your question: I used the power cord that came with the product because that's how Lamm sells it, that's the LP2.1. If a reader wanted to learn if they heard what I heard, they could do that without needing an add-on. And, although it's "just a power cord", to replace that part with one from a different manufacturer then evaluate the unit that way would, in my mind, be disrespectful to the company whose product I am reviewing. Few manufacturers believe a different manufacturer's offering is needed to complete their own.
