Yesterday i went to listen this speaker in the shop of my friend
I listen 30 years ago and i liked but was not ready to buy because i had different taste and liked to listen music also at high volume

But yesterday was a joy to listen, one of the most transparent speaker very natural and if you close your eyes speaker seems disappear
Was connected to an old pre and amp acoustat and a cheap Atoll CD

I wanted to buy but already sold

I suggest everybody if you can find go to listen and sure will buy for a second system

Really FANTASTIC

I had the smaller ELS -F81s for years and found them magical. Made the switch to Apogees for the bass and projection but there were losses, too. All back in the 80s..................

Useless post....

Back on topic.

I’d love to get something like that. Gian do they need plenty of power ?

I'd think so at around 80db efficiency --I heard them at The Radio People in Hong Kong--even the big Stax DA-300 was shutting down on moderate levels--Good luck:rolleyes:

I agree with Kal at low level non complex music they are magical , and oh so pristine and sweet--I recall the depth of the the soundstage--not wide but into the mystic of the mind:p

Good listening,

BruceD

I have a pair of F-81. They are half the size of the F-83. My F-81 can only play at low volume levels. It starts to distort terribly everytime I increase the volume level to above average conversation level loudness. I still have the F-81. It is one of the most natural, real, detail resolving speakers I have experienced. And the way it recreates music is simply beautiful.

Panels need high current.

I also had the smaller ELS-F81s and found them to be probably the most transparent speaker I ever heard...limited in bass and dynamics though. You should hear them with good tube amps...a whole other experience than what you heard even. These speakers are not happy at all with SS because over most of the range the impedance is very high.

No, these need high voltage. THey are electrostats that are high impedance (up to 500 ohms in the mids) and voltage is needed...not current.

what amp? We found a big PP 100 watt tube amp actually allowed them to play loud and with decent bass.
