For those members who understand Cantonese. This is hilarious. The reporter went to interview several personalities well known within the Hong Kong audiophile community of that era. I guess his aim was to show how ridiculous Audiophile were. Even if you don't understand Cantonese, it is worth seeing some of the OTT setups in these people's homes.
1. The guy who made a pair DIY speakers with 120 drivers and still adding more....
2. The "wire guy" who claims he can tell if a cable will give him "emotional connection" by dissecting it and looking at its construction
3. The "Fix position guy" who couldn't stop moving his speakers by millimeters and listening for differences.
4. The "tube guy" who explains how different NOS tubes change the sound, and how he swaps them in different positions in his preamp neurotically to find the best combination.
5. The second hand shop owner explains how audiophiles would buy and then sell the same pieces of equipment within a few weeks, and how he takes a 10% cut each time.
6. The poor husband whose loudspeakers did not have sufficient WAF (wife acceptance factor) and he had to wheel them out from storage each time he wants to listen to his system.
7. Another wife who appreciates her husband's hobby keeping him in his listening room hours at a time. "Better than him being out somewhere doing whatever."
8. An audio sales rep. (a woman !) explaining how to buy new equipment and not let the wives catch on.
The reporter posted these old episodes on his channel. He admitted in the comments section that he wanted to ridicule these maniacs in his program, but over the years, he has become one of them himself !
