As a self respecting audiophile, I wouldn't be caught dead with a turntable costing anything less than $400,000 Euros, and a limited edition of 22 units (how did they pick 22?) isn't an exclusive enough club. :D

Well, I can only imagine ... the return of my vinyl virginity as "the encoded music in the groove of your records shine to its full potential - for the first time ever!"

 Wow, the price complainers are at it again. I'm certainly not interested, nor could/would I ever justify anywhere near that amount for a TT.. That said, it would be interesting to learn more about the table, it's technology and claims....and sound impressions if anyone ever hears it. Enough of the price complaint trolling... It's a violation of TOS and this is the WBF after all.

before anyone plunks down their cash money on deposit for this tt, they might first get up to speed on the people behind it

all might be ok here, then again history could repeat itself.

I wonder if Dieter needs 22 buyers before he starts building them?

Imagine …… a platter with definite energy transfer, internal liquid dampening and a full non-reflective inner architecture.

We'll see more and more of those "products" and more than one audiophiles will be burned ...

Oh no...not another fleecing scam (fraud). Sad really.

I am not calling this a scam; my intentions were to inform potential intenders to simply be cautious. I have no doubt that the concept has lots of potential. Dieter has many satisfied customers for his less spendy products and obviously knows his stuff about turntables. it appears the 'past' issues are actually building completely sorted out finished products in the 'dream' category. and following thru with promises.

if I were a serious customer for a product like this no money would change hands until I personally observed the finished product I was buying making great music.

and maybe Dieter has partnered with someone with sufficiently deep pockets and staying power to make this happen for real. we'd all like to see such a product happen I think.

There's no such thing as a scam if the buyer likes it. Pet rock had millions of satisfied buyers. Same with Bose.

well.....not sure if you actually read some of what was written in the link above I provided......but a pet rock has to (1) get actually built (or selected) and delivered to the customer after payment was received, and (2) actually be able to perform like the rock it was represented it was.

Dieter failed in some cases to not do (1) or not do (2).

I do agree that people can spend their money on any damn thing they want to. and also, sellers can screw people if they want to, but then must deal with the consequences.

it's hard to un-ring the bell.

and products Dieter sold were represented to be the very top of the heap in performance and were priced accordingly.

I well remember those stories, Mike. I would use extreme caution, though his arm, headshell, protractors and cartridge all seem to be real products. I don't know if the earlier issues regarding that line stage or turntable were actually resolved.

Interestingly, you may recall the rivalry between him and Raul over on Audiogon. They were both developing SOTA tonearms a few years ago. Dieter produced his, and I never heard of Raul's coming to market.

If this turntable gets produced, it sure would be fun to hear it and very interesting to learn more about it. Perhaps there will be some trickle down technology that manages to show up in a more affordable offering. He does seem to be all about analog. I hope it happens.

Well he does seem to have happy satisfied customers...some with the TT alignment protractor and others with the omnigon phono stage IIRC ...I'm concerned about the dissatisfied customer horror stories. Indeed, I would want to see and hear it. Maybe it will be at the Munich show next year.

I'd say the odds of 'ever' seeing that particular tt actually be built are below 20%. so not zero, but not likely either.

it's just a CAD drawing......

and it happening by next Munich Show are less than 1%. it would have to be 'real' already.......

>>>turn the table<<< with a real ROI

$$$$$$$$$$ buy a small commercial or residential property to lease-out. That is a better way to >>>turn the table<<< with a real ROI [return on investment].
