Hi guys
What a long and informative thread! Congratulations!
I'm about to buy a used 2023 Lampizator Atlantic 3 TRP Balanced (Engine 11) and it has the stock tubes, which are not the best choice.
I have some nice 5U4G rectifiers in stock (some NOS and one Stradi) as spare to my power amp, so I don't need to buy rectifiers for now.
I do need to buy a quad of good power tubes and I want to try first some new production ones because NOS are some times not 100% reliable and good ones are pricey.
I've read (scroll) the first 50 pages of the thread and I`ve seen two possible options: Golden Lions KT77 and Psvane Art Series 6CA7-TIII.
As I have not read the last almost 100 pages of the thread, I would like to know if there has been other power tubes recommended.
For instance, I've read that someone tried KT88 tubes with no good results, but has anyone tried the new Psvane Summit KT88 series? Reviews on them are incredible and I have their 300B Summit Series and they are very good.

The GL KT77 was my first attempt in the TRP. Well, it works, but next to real quality tubes it sounds like it’s made of plastic. The Sophias definitely sound better. Think of it as a water pistol vs. an AK-47

But he can choose to just run 2 output tubes and go RCA outs, right? I didn't have good results with the Poseidon this way, but maybe it works ok for the TRP? A good pre that converts to balanced can manage the low level signal very well in my experience.

I see get much value in XLR out for a tube DAC where a good pre will convert to XLR and manage the low level signal and everything far better anyways in my experience.
I'm planning on using the TRP on balanced mode, so I'm ok on buying 4 tubes. I just want to learn from your experiences and lower the purchase and tube rolling.

I run a TRP3 balanced- and yes, you can run with two tubes in the front sockets and wire out for S/E but I’ve tried it and it sounded different. I definitely did not prefer it to running balanced. But with that said- my amp and pre are fully symmetrical so running balanced is recommended.
It does weigh you down though when it comes to tube buys.
I’ll be in the same tube predicament when my new Balanced Atlantic TRP arrives. For the balanced Atlantic TRP or for that matter any balanced Lampi, will two balanced pairs of the same tube do almost as well as a balanced quad? Reason for the ask - I’m hoping to evaluate different tubes in my new Atlantic by using an additional balanced pair of the same tube with balanced pairs that I already own. That is assuming I can find them.

Yes- you can definitely do this, I do this all the time. After purchasing my GA TRP3 I realized that I really didn’t care much for the newer tubes that were out there, so I turned to the used/NOS market.
I sometimes do bulk buys but I also buy pairs and singles. I keep them around until I can round up whatever is required to complete a quad. Surprisingly, I’m often able to find matching tubes that were produced within the same month/year but that’s just a bonus. I typically just try to find matches that are from the same production series, meaning facility and year range of production.
Attention when using SR fuses, it is recommended to choose values at least +25% higher than those specified by the device manufacturer. In the TRP, as far as I know, many people in Europe use 3.15A, small, slow-blow fuses. Honestly Swiss Digital Fuse Box are the best fuses I’ve tried so far (tried many - all SR, Audio Magic, Hifi Tuning, Gustard, etc.). Total game-changers and an absolute steal.

Are we talking about two different philosophies when it comes to using a Lampi in either a single ended or balanced mode. @Socrates428 are you saying with a good balanced preamp that will convert a single ended signal to a balance signal, a single ended Lampi will do just as well as a balanced Lampi? @Designsfx and are you saying with a fully balanced preamp and amp it’s better to use a balanced Lampi? I’m wondering if I would have done just as well ordering a single ended Atlantic TRP instead of a balanced model?
