Yes, I agree, I prefer Jadis on a small scale music, especially with vocal, but when it comes to the big scale, I am not so sure. Yesterday evening I replaced Gryphon XLR with RSA (Rick Schultz Audio) one, and it added some density to the presentation.Ok I just heard one yesterday and my reaction was as a compare to your older videos and generally overall. I now heard both, had missed that there were two. I think they sound equal, possibly a bit of density on Jadis in the higher range, and some more dynamic range and deeper bass texture on Grandi. I can't select based on this video itself.
Maybe if you do a smaller scale chamber music compare with the top, and piano, we will be able to tell more.
As long as you are not getting spiky hardness in room from Grandi (it is there on phone playback but not on my soundbox playback).
Toe-in in a small room can help reduce early reflections and slightly widen the sweet spot, but the speaker still doesn’t have enough space to “breathe.” In such a limited environment, sidewall reflections are still too close, so the sound can remain harsh and the full dynamics and soundstage may not be realized. That’s also why, unlike at Axpona 2024, they didn’t need to toe-in the speakers much at Munich 2023, because the room width was larger and more suitable.I would have sharply toed them in to the point where it crosses in front of the listener. This minimizes the first wall reflection and also widens the sweet spot...
No, I don’t own or sell Grandinote speakers. I’m in the same boat as you. I currently have Wilson Sasha speakers and I’m looking to upgrade to either Avantgarde or Grandinote.Do you own Grandinote speakers or sell them?
Ok, I was just curious, you seem to know a lot about Grandinote speakersNo, I don’t own or sell Grandinote speakers. I’m in the same boat as you. I currently have Wilson Sasha speakers and I’m looking to upgrade to either Avantgarde or Grandinote.
Speaker designers do make measurements during the design phase, but they do not make in-room measurements at the listening position. And the reason is:
You see, an in-room frequency response measurement cannot separate the direct sound from the reflections. So speaker designers measure the on-axis and off-axis responses using techniques which deliberately exclude the room's effects.
My honest opinion, which I presume that's what you want: I hear overly thick mid - bass, bloated bass, at least one bass mode and excessive decay. The same staff with the Grandinote amp:
If you like the Grandinote Mach 8 XL, I suggest you go and listen to the Mach 8 Evoluzione, it will be presented at the next hifi fair in Washington. The same staff with the Grandinote amp:
Magic Bow - very nice - again, quite close. Initially I thought due to the timbre I preferred Jadis, but as it progressed to the quieter parts, I think grandnote is bringing out more variation and complexity while Jadis is homogenising a bit. Valve rolling might help. Both very good though, I think you have made a substantial jump from Wilsons, and if most of the good records and genres sound like what you have been playing on videos with Jadis and Grandinote you can live with the speakers. Do you hear any issues or things getting in the way, distracting you from these records listening? The same staff with the Grandinote amp:
A new Grandinote speaker? Very interesting! How does it differ from Mach 8 XL?If you like the Grandinote Mach 8 XL, I suggest you go and listen to the Mach 8 Evoluzione, it will be presented at the next hifi fair in Washington.

Not really, I think Jadis is a bit easier to listen to compared to Grandinote. But on a big scale staff, I don’t know, Grandinote is very impressive, better control of the speakers.Do you hear any issues or things getting in the way, distracting you from these records listening?
Are you overall happy with the speakers? Not really, I think Jadis is a bit easier to listen to compared to Grandinote. But on a big scale staff, I don’t know, Grandinote is very impressive, better control of the speakers.
But, as you said, tube rolling on Jadis might change the picture, and also, Jadis may be switched to 4 ohms, which would give better control and a slightly darker presentation.
Which copy do you have? The Testament? The same staff with the Grandinote amp:
Of course, I am still saving to get an original…Which copy do you have? The Testament?
